The Marathon County Sheriff's Department would not release the man's name pending the notification of his family.
He and two others were launching their boat in the Big Eau Pleine Flowage but had to wait until the scene was cleared, he said.
On June 3, 16-year-old Samantha Flores of Merrill drowned after she was swept through a Wisconsin River dam while swimming with a friend in Merrill near the mouth of the Prairie River.

Description: This park is the largest in the Marathon County Park System, comprised of 2,050 acres of woodland peninsula on the north shore of the 7,000 acre Big Eau Pleine Reservoir.
Park facilities include: two rustic campgrounds with a total of 106 campsites, three boat launches, picnic areas with play structures, a swimming beach with changehouse, several open-sided and one enclosed shelter, nine miles of hiking/biking trails (5.2 miles of which are open to horse use in the summer).
In addition to picnic facilities that include a playground and both an open-sided and a reservable log and stone enclosed shelter, there are miles of hiking trails, a rustic campground with 26 sites (16 have electricity), a group campground, and a swimming area on a quiet stretch of river away from the falls and rapids.
