Ebbw's second scrum again under pressure with Badger and his opposite number being talked to by the ref. From a catch and drive on the Ebbw twenty two Maesteg penalised five metres short for off side at the maul.
Ebbw regathered their composure and put together a series of drives with Paul Jones harshly penalised on the twenty two for a high tackle on the jinking Ebbw number ten.
Ebbw came out for the second half with renewed confidence and were awarded a penalty on three minutes right of the posts on the twenty two.

Vale knew that this game had to be played on a Saturday as a midweek game would not have generated anything like the income needed, yet how the game received a safety certificate from the local constabulary anybody can guess at.
Ebbw took the field wearing primarily white with white shorts, on a white pitch with a strong sun in the sky, playing with a white ball!
With their tails up from defending their line, Vale never looked back as Mitchell punted them to victory, His control in the second half was a real lesson to Joubert and it was he who should have been the home hero, not Cull.

Brecon complained that Ebbw Vale RFC played an ineligible player in the Club’s 3rd Round Cup fixture on 18th December 2004.
The panel met with representatives of Ebbw Vale RFC and considered evidence from both Clubs and the Union’s records.
The Panel upheld Brecon RFC’s complaint and determined under Rule 16 that Ebbw Vale RFC should be disqualified from the Competition.

In response Marcus Russell re-opened the war of words between the clubs and is threatening to stop Ebbw Vale fullfilling their Welsh Premiership fixture with Newport on Saturday in protest at Tony Brown's reappointment to the board of Gwent Rugby.
"Until there is a written and public assurance from Newport and the WRU that Ebbw Vale have equal representation on the Gwent board, there can be no fixtures between the two clubs.
