Ebenaceae is a family of trees and shrubs with characteristic unisexual flowers, a persistent calyx and tasteful berries.
My results (Geeraerts 2003), based on DNA sequence data of the ITS-region and the rps16-intron confirmed that Lissocarpa is sister to Ebenaceae.
All the proposed reconstructions of the Ebenaceae phylogeny have been based on limited sampling, and too few sequence data are available.
