Of course, if you are going north or west from Tokyo, you'll have to go to Tokyo station, although taking an express Saikyo line train from Ebisu to Omiya is another attractive option since virtually all Shinkansen going north or west stop there as well.
This may not apply to you, but if anyone is staying in Ebisu and wants to go to Disneyland, you can skip the incredibly long walk thru the bowels of Tokyo Station to the Keiyo line...

There's a shopping mall at the train station called Atre, and on the top floor are many good restaurants that would be slightly cheaper than those at the Yebisu Garden Place Tower.
But still OK! Ebisu itself is not very convenient...a little outside of the center.
I just think that the hotel is a little bit far to the station, comparing to other hotels in Tokyo.
