 Ambiorix
Among those freed in the autumn of 57, were the Eburones, a Germanic speaking tribe living between the rivers Meuse and Rhine.
Close to the territory of the Eburones, and protected by a continuous line of marshes and forests, were the Menapians, the only Gallic tribe who had never sent envoys to me to ask for peace.
The name of the Eburones has disappeared from history: they had destroyed one of the Roman legions, and 300 days later they were wiped off the face of the earth.

 Reference.com/Encyclopedia/Ambiorix
Ambiorix was prince of Eburones, a Belgic tribe of north-eastern Gaul (Gallia Belgica).Although Julius Caesar had freed him from paying tribute to the Atuatuci, he joined Catuvolcus (winter, 54 BC) in rising against the Roman forces under Q.
An attack on Quintus Cicero (brother of the orator), then stationed with a legion in the Nervii's territory, failed due to the timely appearance of Caesar.
Certain is that Caesar fruitlessly tried to capture him, eliminating the Eburones and destroying their land in the process.

Pursued by furious Eburone warriors, the ragged force made for the camp of Quintus Tullius Cicero (brother of the orator).
The Eburones were dealt with first, as he did not know at that time that the ordeal had been the plot of the Treveri Indutiomarus.
The land of the Eburones was confiscated and their people were slaughtered and sold into slavery.

Julius Caesar: the story of Ambiorix
In the winter of 54/53, the Eburones, a Germanic speaking tribe between the Meuse and Rhine, revolted against the Romans.
This war was begun by the Eburones, under Ambiorix as chief.
However, there is no archaeological evidence that the site was occupied before c.20 BCE, and Caesar states explicitly that the Eburones lived between the Meuse an Rhine; the battle field must, therefore, have been somewhat further to the east.

 Life of Gaius Julius Caesar
Caesar sends 2 legions to the Treviri under Labienus, who was wintering in their land, and he takes 5 legions to conquer the Menapii lands since they border the enemy and had never consulted with Caesar on peace.
While the Romans are ravaging lands from the west, German tribes seize the opportunity for plunder and attack over the Rhine from the east.
The Eburones are never heard from again in history.
