Gramophone record - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Such records were usually sold separately, in plain paper or cardboard sleeves that may have been printed to show producer of the retailer's name and sometimes in collections held in paper sleeves in a cardboard or leather book, similar to a photograph album, and called record albums.
The recording is played back by rotating the disc at a constant rotational speed with a stylus (needle) placed in the groove, converting the vibrations of the stylus into an electric signal (see magnetic cartridge), and sending this signal through an amplifier to loudspeakers.
Records are made at large manufacturing plants, either owned by the major labels, or run by independent operators to whom smaller operations and independent labels could go to for smaller runs.

My dad explained Echo Park Records to me not as a record label or store but as an idea: not necessarily records that were created or recorded in Echo Park, but records that would be popular here.
In the period between these two records (Stateside it was probably six months between releases, but I think it was a few years in real time), the group had matured into a wildly triumphant outfit, their largely-instrumental music venturing into far richer textures that were staggeringly successful.
Recorded in single takes with the band playing together, it wasn't as rich as their preceding album, but very quickly its directness and emotion won me over.

The songs on internet-released albums such as The Slaughterhouse (2004) and The Chocolate Invasion (2004) have much in common with the material on Musicology both in terms of thematic focus and stylistic influences, and it is largely the lack of major-label publicity and distribution that prompted many reviewers to ignore them.

Black Water Echo are Alun Mountford and Steve Gilbey from Birmingham and Peterborough, who have worked in various bands together, most notably The Llamas, based in Cambs.
This current project really began in the early 00’s, when The Llamas who were dispersed around the country at the time got together to thrash out some tunes in drummer Nick’s garage, with the idea of producing a new demo.
Encouraged by recordings produced so far, the idea was formed between Alun and Steve to continue writing and recording in their own studio, giving themselves time to eventually produce an album of interesting new songs worthy of general release.
