Eclipso - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eclipso is a fictional character, a villain in the DC Comics Universe.
Eclipso's threat was finally removed from the Earth when the Phantom Stranger completed the long task of gathering all 1,000 fl diamonds from around the Earth and fusing them back together into the Heart of Darkness by recreating the spell originally cast by God, trapping Eclipso's soul inside the giant gemstone.
Eclipso returned after several years' absense in the "Princes of Darkness" storyline in JSA as an ally of the other shadow-based villains Mordru and Obsidian.

Eclipso was next seen seven years later, fighting The Justice League of America.
According to this retcon, Eclipso is an immortal god of vengeance and, from his castle on the dark side of the Moon, can manifest himself through any of a thousand fl diamonds, turning anyone who thirsts for revenge into a version of himself.
Eclipso had his own comic from 1992-94 and, now quite powerful enough to take seriously (he's even succeeded in permanently killing a couple of minor superheroes), is a familiar sight to readers of the entire DC line.

First, Eclipso never should have been able to touch her because of her ability to see practically everything and predict every move a foe can make before he or she makes it.
After Eclipso pounds her through the wall, she should be unconscious, bloody and beaten and quite possibly dead again.
Eclipso may be powerful--and this is purely a post-Crisis derivation, but he cannot be in two places at once.

Eclipso's voice sounded steely and hard, a strange maculine thing that seemed out of place coming from the decidely feminine form it was inhabiting.
Mon-El thought he saw a glimpse of Eclipso's face within the diamond before he focused his heat vision on the gem, slowly reducing it to a small puddle of hardened rock.

Eclipso’s origin was not revealed in 1992’s Eclipso: The Darkness Within, though it was strongly implied that he is much more than had previously been thought.
It says that both The Spectre and Eclipso are aspects of the Wrath of God, with Eclipso having gone renegade after enjoying inflicting God’s vengeance on people too much, and The Spectre being created to take his place.
In the past, we have announced the name and nature of such events in advance, but this time we are keeping this information a secret for now, as we want to provide our fans the challenge of trying to figure it out from the clues that will be given as the crossover approaches.

 The Unofficial Eclipso Biography
Eclipso is an evil god of revenge who has had a great many dealings with the super-heroes of the world.
Eclipso inhabited Gordon's body, taking it over at times of solar eclipse to wreak acts of great evil; he was opposed by Mona Bennett (Bruce's fiancée) and mystics such as the Phantom Stranger.
In recent years, Gordon has been freed from Eclipso's influence, which left the god free to commit greater and greater acts of evil, including the slaughter of many innocents and at least eight super-heroes.

Eclipso: The Darkness Within was a 1992 comic book miniseries and crossover storyline published by DC Comics.
In the mini-series, Eclipso grew weary of his modus operandi and decided to launch an all-out offensive by using his fl diamonds to possess heroes and villains directly or to manipulate them by possessing their loved ones.
The story climaxed with a massive confrontation at Eclipso's hideout on the moon, where despite the presence of many superpowered heroes and heroines, Bruce Gordon Eclipso's original host, played a key role in his defeat.

Eclipso: Little is known about the strange being known as Eclipso.
According to these mythic tales, passed down from generation to generation, a young musician from a faraway land was raised by a pack of wild dingoes to become a fierce trickster warrior.
Some of these stories date to the time when it is known that Bruce Gordon was in Australia, giving some credence to the otherwise outlandish claims that Eclipso and Gordon are one and the same individual.

Well, the bad news is that the third part of this story arc isn't going to come out before Day of Vengeance #1, since that particular miniseries debuts simultaneously with this second part.
And I don't think it's any real kind of spoiler to say that Eclipso gets what he's after--Superman's body (although the tattered Captain Marvel cape on the cover is a bit presumptuous, as the World's Mightiest Mortal gets even less screen time this issue than last.)
