Some are cyberpunks who exploit technology heavily, or Viridian Greens who see advantages in certain technologies, allowing the human species to transform itself into something more ecologically compatible.
Ecoanarchism's ideology is a branch of anarchism that focuses mainly on the ecological and environmental aspects of that philosophy.
The aim of ecoanarchism is a means of ensuring human respect for ecology, e.g.

Feminists identify ‘androcentrism’ as the root of social inequity and Ecofeminists ‘androcentric anthropocentrism’ as the root of ecological inequity.
This is a criticism ecofeminsts make of ecoanarchism — in that it denies the difference and importance of personal ties in influencing our decisions.
Insofar as Ecoanarchism, Ecocentrism and Ecofeminism identify hierarchies of some kind as the root of oppression, a politics of change for the better would have to exhibit the dissolution of hierarchy.

There will be a) no real anarchism without ecology sufficiently integrated, just market orientated half-anarchism, and b) no real ecology without anarchism in a societal perspective, only authoritarian or pseudolibertarian half-environmentalism.
Ecoanarchism, the prefix "eco" is an abbreviation for ecology: From the Greek oikos = house + logos = reason, i.e.
The eco-anarchists and the GAIA organization are however naturally interested in making "mother earth", our material planet, a better place to live for the people of the world, especially environmentally and ecologically, sustainable, now and in the future.

While the relationship between ecoanarchism and ecocentrism/biocentrism has only recently become a major concern for myself, this has not been true for others within the deep ecology movement.
It does not deal with any of the larger issues or produce the evidence for why ecoanarchism is necessary for an “ecotopian society.” I also do not believe it to be true that the radical environmentalism of Earth Firsters is based upon their alleged anarchist beliefs.
However, ecoanarchism is a concept which is more often a slogan, conveying an attitude of opposition to industrial society, rather than something which has been theoretically worked through and judged relevant for our frightening times.

Most modern forms of deep ecology, however, have evolved into fairly nonviolent forms of "bioregionalism" which advocates decentralized community self-rule within political boundaries redrawn to reflect the natural contours of differing ecosystems, but still, there must be some revolution to redraw these boundaries.
There are many varieties of ecoanarchism, but a common theme tends to be loss of dignity at the hands of technology and how it is destroying our way of life.
Ecoanarchists can trace their heritage back to the 1811-1816 Luddite movement in England where textile workers broke into the factories to destroy the machines.

The final and by far the best chapter, called ‘Disciplining the market, calling in the state’, is an interesting review of various models of political economy which have been put forward as ways to integrate economy and environment.
The options offered are Ecoanarchism, free-market environmentalism, green social democracy and ecosocialism.
The author begins by pointing out that there is no consensus on the issue of sustainability and hence the need to consider the merits of the rival models.

Indeed, Gorz provides an active endorsement of what Habermas has described as the "scientization of politics.'' As we saw in chap- ter this process has led to the gradual ascendancy of a technocratic elite and the withering of the public sphere.
This approach stands in stark contrast to the project of the Frankfurt School and the community self-management approach of ecoanarchism, both of which seek full democratic participation in political, economic, technological, and ecological decision making.
Not surprisingly, Gorz's particular post-industrial utopia has attracted a number of criticisms from zcoanarchists and other ecosocialists.

When the particular trend of anarchism existed (or began) should make no difference, neither should the number of "followers" (term is used loosely).
