Economy minister says Serbia, Montenegro harmonized 94 per cent of tariffs
Belgrade, May 14, 2003 - For most of the industrial products we have agreed on uniform duty tariffs in Serbia and Montenegro, minister for economy and privatization Aleksandar Vlahovic said on Tuesday [13 May], adding that 94 per cent of the tariffs had been harmonized.
Vlahovic underscored that the two governments had observed two basic criteria in the negotiations - protection of the economy and living standard, adding that the negotiations have been raised to a "higher level", and they are now being carried out by ministers.
The increase of the Montenegrin duty tariffs and their harmonization with those of Serbia will not affect the standard of living of the republic's population, but will reduce rebate which is rather high in Montenegro, and the prices would thus be reduced, said Vlahovic in a live broadcast by TV Politika.
