  ENTROPY
Entropy is a quantity that, in its two contexts, characterizes not only all form and life in the universe, but all signal, language, information and written material ever produced anywhere.
Entropy within this theory is the "measure of the rate of transfer of information in [that] message" (OED).
Another consequence of the second law of thermodynamics, is that the entropy, or disorder, of the universe must increase for a reaction or event to occur (thus over time the universe proceeds toward the most probable state--hypothetically a "heat-death" of complete uniformity as mentioned by Pynchon in "Entropy").

 The Cult of Final Ecstasy
Those who have reached low-points in their life are no longer adequate targets, as it is understood that they may very well escape the rut they are in, instead time and entropy are used together to determine whether any hope for this incarnation of the individual may be found.
They also happen to be on very good terms with the wraith community as they feel it is their duty, as guardians of the cycle, to help the restless dead continue on their way and so assist them in the last vestiges of business they may have tethering them to the waking world.
The Ecstasy is the remarkable state of consciousness attained during death.

Larry Niven - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
One of his short stories, "Inconstant Moon", was adapted for an episode of the television series The Outer Limits.
He has also written for the DC comics character Green Lantern including in his stories hard science fiction concepts such as universal entropy and the red shift effect, which are common to his novels but unusual in comic books.
Many of Niven's stories take place in his Known Space universe, in which humanity shares the several solar systems nearest to Sol with over a dozen alien species, including species known as the Kzinti, and Pierson's Puppeteers, which are frequently central characters.

The Jon Rose Web - Picts - The Relative Violins - Descriptions
In its medieval incarnation, the tromba-mariner consisted of a long sound box with one string and a bridge, one foot of which rested on the belly and one foot inside the instrument, making a buzzing sound.
Of course, by walking backwards, the performer could hear again what he had just played in retrograde." Thus, with this instrument a new dimension was added to the parameters of musical structure, that of distance.
Spanning anything from two to twenty five meters in length, many with a special resonating bridge, these playable installations have been built at regular intervals over the last twenty-one years.

 Charms of Entropy, on Erofeev
In the dialectic of sobriety and drunkenness, the ultimate level is the hangover: the negation of negation.
For centuries the world has glorified energy or force in all its guises: from kinetic and potential energy to the energy of mind and body, the force of the collective and of the individual, the force of heroic feats and the force of humility, cosmic force and political force, creative force and moral force.
This was because of the second law of thermo-dynamics, which threatened general entropy, a thermal end to the universe in which everything would come together, even out, forming one vast, identical and undifferentiated melange, neither cold not hot.

This view stands in contrast to that of a strict causality which states that an event is the immediate effect of a cause.
This contention is remarkably close to the position of the metaphysic of ecstasy.

Remedy is a house record, but it consists of songs, not merely mixable tracks meant to form the building blocks of a DJ set.
When house music works, though, there's almost a melancholy built into its ecstasy, a sense of snatching a night of heaven out of a system that's seemingly built to deny such pleasure.

ENTROPY (or quantum flux) breaks down Prime into other less powerful forces (which are more organized ironic way) these organized forces are Electromagnetism, Gravity, Kinetic, and Nuclear (strong and weak).

Evolution by mutation and natural selection in populations of replicating organisms is characterised, when typical conditions prevail, by a directionality principle: a uni-directional increase in evolutionary entropy, a quantity that describes the uncertainty in the age of the mother of a randomly chosen newborn in the population.
This talk will discuss 1) the analytical basis of the principle; 2) its connection with the directionality principle for thermodynamic entropy; 3)applications of the evolutionary principle to the mortality plateaus in human populations.

By this he meant that although inorganic matter was inevitably subject to entropy, (all the structure of peaks and valleys puddling out into a flat line of cosmic death) organic matter, life, had a reverse drive for higher and higher complexities, from the amoebae to the whale brain.

Orchestral free jazz is a rare bird, for the simple reason that when a lot of people get together to blow their unfettered brains out, ecstasy tends to yield to entropy, i.e., chances are you'll get nothing but a horrible, muddy din.
