Korfanty continues to compete internationally as a member of the U.S. National Veteran's team, and has been the 50-60 age group Men's Saber World Champion three times (2002, 2003 and 2006).
Korfanty was named the U.S. Olympic Committee's Coach of the Year in 2001, 2003, and 2004.
Ed Korfanty earned his fencing master diploma at the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, Poland, under the tutelage of Zbigniew Czajkowski.

Ed Korfanty fenced like a 35 year-old and Susan Hurst, fencing in her first World Championships, did extremely well.
When he was not fencing, Ed seemed to be everywhere in the saber events, coaching our competitors, and was an immense help.

Randall accepted the position as assistant coach to Korfanty at the U.S. National Training Center, and Director of Business Development for the Oregon Fencing Alliance (OFA-the club where the training center is housed).

Coaches observed numerous private classes of beginner, intermediate and advanced levels given by sabre coach Charles Randall and were able to question him extensively.
Maestro Korfanty took on all comers from the coaching clinic for a fun and full spirited session of bouting.
Korfanty autographed photos for participants and handed out the certificates of completion.

Scott Pippin, Nico Bergman, Masaki Yamada and Gretchen Bueermann were in Beaverton, Oregon, participating in the elite sabre camp conducted by gold medal Olympic sabre coach Ed Korfanty.
It is quite an edifying display of the level of commitment to the sport when so many fencers from the same club go to these camps to learn new methods and techniques of fencing.
Probably a highlight for the sabre kids at Korfanty’s camp was the fact that Olympic gold medalist Mariel Zagunis was there, as well as Rebecca Ward, 16 years old, and a world sabre champion!
