Topic: Ed Kowalczyk

  Friends of Live.com
Lead singer/frontman/guitarist Ed Kowalczyk, lead guitarist Chad Taylor, bassist Patrick Dahlheimer and drummer Chad Gracey (all of whom were in their early teens at the time) were simply four friends from working-class York, Pennsylvania who wanted to express themselves by writing and performing music.
Another thing that has enabled Live to maintain a devoted fan base, Kowalczyk theorizes, is the substantial and durable nature of their lyrics, which have often reflected Kowalczyk’s personal and spiritual concerns.
But it was clear that Kowalczyk and his colleagues had fashioned a distinctive, recognizable sound of their own.

Ed, Just wanted to thank you and the rest of the boys for all the great and inspiring music i've had the pleasure of tuning into over the past 12 or so years!
Ed, i hope you feel better soon, you really need to take a much needed rest, you guys all deserve it.
Hey Ed My sympathies about your voice atm - It would suck not being able to GIVE it EVERYTHING which is what you are all about and I know you wouldn't want to cancel any of your gigs but how about Chris Daltry as backup.

In short, the Mystery of the unfolding remains with me now, has deepened and is deepening even as I write this.
As earnest Ed, the guy missing the genetic code for cool (THANK GOD), I will step out and say that I was part of something historical.
I’ve been known as Ed too, but all my friends call me Eddie.

Though he used to have long, strange hair and even sported an extremely bizarre Krishna-esque braid, Kowalczyk is a member of the clean-shaven clan.
As a frontman, Kowalczyk represents the spiritual bastard child of Eddie Vedder and Bono, somehow earnest and preachy all at the same time.
The four band members stand around playing their instruments (save for the drummer -- he just sort of wanders around the set, as there is no drum kit) while Kowalczyk mugs for the camera and busts out some of the strangest booty shakes this side of Beck.

Edward Joel Kowalczyk was born 28 years ago today in Lancaster, Pa. In the early '80s, he met York, Pa., residents Chad Taylor (guitar), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums), who were in the band First Aid.
Adopting Kowalczyk as lead vocalist, they assumed a number of band names before settling on Public Affection.
The LP's songs, including "Operation Spirit (The Tyranny of Tradition)" and "Pain Lies on the Riverside," were inspired by one of Kowalczyk's heroes, the Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti.
