Musick learned flying at a flying school in Los Angeles in the years leading up to World War I.
Tragically, Musick and his crew died on the S-42 Samoan Clipper over Pago Pago, American Samoa, on a survey flight to Auckland, New Zealand.
As the crew began dumping fuel in preparation for an emergency landing a spark in the fuel pump caused an explosion that tore the aircraft apart in mid-air.

One of America's most beloved early commercial pilots, Ed Musick was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1894 and moved to California with his family when he was 9 years old.
Musick was licensed to fly any type of plane, and he was given every opportunity to prove this in his position as Pan American's premier pilot.
Musick's accident ended his life at the height of his career and he was greatly mourned.

In 1918, Musick enrolled as a 2nd Lieutenant with the Marine Flying Corps in Miami and continued as an instructor until he left in 1919 for a job as a pilot with the Aeromarine Plane and Motor Co., where he started in 1920.
Ed Musick was one of the first pilots to log 10,000 hours of flying, and, during a career extending over a quarter of a century, he piloted aircraft over 1,000,000 miles.
Ed Musick was jokingly called "Cautious Ed" by his co-workers at Aeromarine, because of his single-minded devotion to air safety.

David W. Musick has been appointed Director of Graduate Medical Education (GME) for Penn Medicine by Dr. Arthur Rubenstein, EVP of UPHS and Dean of the School of Medicine.
Prior to coming to Penn, Dr. Musick served as Assistant Dean for Student Assessment and Program Evaluation for the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, where he remains an adjunct assistant professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Musick is a member of numerous national service organizations including: the American Educational Research Association, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Association of Academic Physiatry, the Association of Behavioral Sciences and Medical Education, and the Ethics and Peer Review Committee of the American Association of Electro-diagnostic Medicine.

The greatest threats to sharks and rays may be from mixed-species fisheries where the sharks and rays with lower intrinsic rates of increase may be fished to collapse or extirpation while the more productive fishes continue to drive the fisheries.
Although directed fisheries have been the cause of stock collapse in many species of elasmobranchs, the greatest threat to long-lived sharks and rays appears to be mortality in mixed species fisheries.
Musick is head of Vertebrate Ecology and Systematics programs at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Gloucester Point.

In March 1935, Noonan was navigator on the first Pan Am clipper at San Francisco Bay.
In April, he navigated the historic, round-trip China Clipper flight between San Francisco and Honolulu, piloted by Ed Musick (who was featured on the cover of Time magazine that year).
Noonan was subsequently responsible for mapping Pan Am's clipper routes across the Pacific, participating in many flights to Midway and Wake Island, Guam, the Philippines, and Hong Kong.
