I've been a member of the Chief Electoral Officer's advisory committee from its inception; and the CHP was a founding member of Fair Vote Canada, a multi-party group that also includes representatives of several "think-tanks", working for electoral reform.
Probably the most powerful testimony of the CHP's ability to work behind the scenes took place in 1990, when EdVanwoudenberg was the CHP's National Leader.
Vanwoudenberg appeared before a Parliamentary committee to speak on the issue, and warned that if Parliament made such a change, the CHP would launch a Charter challenge, charging discrimination against Christians.

Indeed, this can be born out by consulting the bibliographic works cited below by Dirk Vanderpyl (New Zealand), Fred Nile (New South Wales, Australia) and EdVanwoudenberg (British Columbia, Canada),which concentrate primarily on the 'moral' issues cited above to the exclusion of issues of economic policy.

Delegates to a political convention held in Hamilton, Ontario, on November 18-20 witnessed a truly remarkable event: namely, the birth of the Christian Heritage Party (CHP), a new federal political party.
To be sure, this party was already officially recognized on June 17, 1986, but it was only after this founding convention that one could speak of a party with an elected leader (EdVanwoudenberg) and a national executive, as well as an officially adopted constitution and platform.
It is the purpose of this and a following article to pass on some of the highlights of the founding convention so that we can get an idea what this party is and strives for from the official documents that were approved.
Other candidates running in Abbotsford include Karl Hann [Green Party] and David Mackay [Marxist-Leninist party].
In Mission, four candidates are running to represent the Dewdney-Alouette riding: Blanche Juneau [Liberal], Randy Kamp [Conservative], Mike Bocking [NDP] and EdVanwoudenberg [Christian Heritage Party].
A Vancouver Sun journalist on a leave of absence, Bocking is running to represent the riding for the NDP because it is a party he has been involved with for years and a party he believes in.

One poetry contest has a deadline of late November.
A big thanks to Andy Kanis who will be stepping down from the committee for all his time and efforts during his time with us and welcome to Gerard VanWoudenberg who will be replacing Andy.
We are sure that your talents will be put to good use in the upkeep of ICS.
