	Ed2k: URI scheme - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		These links are primarily used to provide a unique identifier for file without referring to a specific location, like in FTP and HTTP links.
		Now Magnet links serves a similar role but is not limited to the ed2K hash but can be other hashes such as SHA or MD5 etc.
		The ed2k hash function is a variant of MD4 but is incompatible with MD4, as it differs in the way the hash is finalized.

		They are not litigating against link listers but the software manufacturers and the sharers, the latter being logged DURING the commission of the share (theft).
		ed2k links in a sense are not links as such but instead hash codes, because they only work if a person uses a program that can make use of the hash codes themselves (which as always caused controversy regarding ed2k links as to what they are really classed as, links or hash codes).
		Meaning if you came to my site and clicked an ed2k link posted there, they are useless to you and will lead to downloading nothing at all, unless you have a program installed like eMule or eDonkey.
