dOc DVD Review: Cléo From 5 to 7 (1962)
While these cameos are fun to spot, seeing someone like Eddie Constantine for a split second took me completely out of the film.
The most cameos appear when Cléo goes to see a short film, which stars director Jean Luc-Godard, Godard's first wife, Anna Karina, and the famous French actor Eddie Constantine, star of Godard's Alphaville, among other films.
Of course, to watch a film within a film automatically takes you out of the larger movie, so all in all the cameos were well placed.

 Eddie Murphy Raw DVD Review
There are few comics that can make a feature film of their stand-up comedy act and pull in the kind of crossover audience that Eddie Murphy managed to grab when his concert film “Eddie Murphy Raw” was released in theaters back in 1987.
Paramount Home Entertainment presents “Eddie Murphy Raw” in the original 16 by 9 enhanced widescreen (1.85:1) aspect ratio of the original theatrical exhibition.
Interesting to note that Robert Townsend (Hollywood Shuffle) directed the film and the opening sketch was co-written by Keenan Ivory Wayans (In Living Color), who also served as a Producer on the film.

IGN: Barbershop 2: Back in Business Review
Eddie's old-man voice and tendency to trail off and shout out controversial comments is pretty tired by the end of the film.
While Eddie was a very entertaining character in the first film, it seems that too much of Eddie adds up to an unfortunate overdose.
Much of Eddie's back-story also seems a little heavy-handed for a movie that is primarily a light-hearted comedy revolving around the gossip and trash talk that goes on in an urban barbershop.

 Germany Year 90 Nine Zero
By this time his auteur status was assured, as was Eddie Constantine's iconic presence as a hard-boiled secret agent in a satiric sci-fi film, since he was better known as an actor in gangster films; this assurance became a guarantee, a 'pre-sold' deal.
The film follows the adventures of Lemmy Caution (Eddie Constantine), "the last of the secret agents," as he wanders through a post-Berlin-Wall Germany (from the East to the West) through a landscape littered with history.
Godard's 'avenue' in the '90s, however, was broadcast television, a route that bypassed the regular forms of film distribution.

JoBlo's movie review of Shrek 2: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz
I also liked seeing the old crew back in action, especially Eddie Murphy's Donkey, which is pretty much the only thing Murphy seems to have done right in the past few years, as well as the cute side-kicks a la Pinocchio and the Gingerbread Man, who all make valiant "cameo" appearances nearing the film's conclusion.
The new addition that really took this film to another level though was the introduction of its latest star, Puss 'n Boots, voiced brilliantly by Antonio Banderas, and featuring one of the more unforgettable animated character "sad faces" of all-time.
A creepier, darker side of the film also helped keep things fresh, including a nice rendition of an evil Fairy Godmother, as well as a run-down drinking hole featuring Captain Hook drunkenly playing the piano for such notables as the headless horseman and others (I don't want to give too much away).

Jack sees superstar potential in the fresh-faced Eddie, and he is right--propelled by his large natural endowment and its ability to perform on camera, Eddie becomes an overnight porn sensation under the name of Dirk Diggler, sweeping the Adult Film Awards every year and creating a popular franchise character in secret agent Brock Landers.
The adult film industry is front and center as the film opens in the San Fernando Valley in 1977.
More engaging emotionally and in every other way are Moore's Amber, the porn vet who yearns to be a mother to her absent son; Cheadle's Buck, who prides himself on being a real actor; and Graham's Rollergirl, a parentless high-school dropout whose freewheeling ways hide deep anger and pain.

The Delirious concert tour followed in 1983; recorded at a sold-out August performance, the LP Eddie Murphy: Comedian reached the Top 40 while his second feature, Trading Places, emerged as the year's highest-grossing film.
Murphy was the hottest actor in Hollywood when he signed on for the 1986 quasi-mystical action comedy The Golden Child; the film was a commercial and critical bomb, and for the first time his star power was in question.
Like Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor before him, Eddie Murphy was the preeminent African-American comic of his era; in fact, Murphy was arguably the preeminent comic of the 1980s, period -- at his peak, no other performer, regardless of race, was a bigger star or a more audacious talent.

 :: rogerebert.com :: Reviews :: Boomerang (xhtml)
In May of 1991, at the Cannes Film Festival, Eddie Murphy joined the audience that saw John Singleton's "Boyz N the Hood," and afterwards he led the cheering.
It shows a kinder, gentler, funnier Eddie Murphy than we've seen in recent years - a comic actor who can go for the little laughs as well as the big ones, and build a character at the same time.
The story for "Boomerang" is credited to Murphy, who may have seen this story as an amends after "Harlem Nights," a shockingly sexist movie that included one scene where the Murphy character shot a woman dead while she was making love to him.

deseretnews.com - Movie review: Boomerang Deseret Morning News Web edition
"Boomerang" was supposed to be the turnaround movie for Eddie Murphy, the film that would establish him as a romantic leading man as well as provide his first comic vehicle in some time without blasts of gunfire all around him.
Then the film implies in a conversation between Berry and Givens that Givens is also in love — a major misstep, since it tends to undercut the comic and romantic potential of what follows.
Every Eddie Murphy movie is a big hit initially, but "Boomerang" will really test the loyalty of his fans.

 DVD Verdict Review - Boomerang
Boomerang's makers, it seems, were scared away by Jacqueline's sexuality…or maybe they were so caught up in the film as an Eddie Murphy star vehicle that they couldn't see the picture as a story about two lovers.
Boomerang was released in 1992, at the tail-end of Eddie Murphy's reign as one of Hollywood's top draws, a sure-fire leading man who guaranteed box office success.
Despite a couple of missteps, they've delivered a film that is funny and entertaining.

This is a difficult film to watch - Eddie Constantines' parody of the dead-pan acting style of Bogart, the almost zero budget, and scenes where people are bloodlessly machine gunned and drowned in swimming pools all seem to make this film laughably "art house".

As the film wears on, several minutes are dedicated to Mark blowing up at his friends over the fact that he may get busted for shooting Eddie, a subplot which simply isn’t necessary as it has no payoff.

Dean's crooning of his own western ballads was of course always one of the films' main selling points, but it wasn't the only one and Dean soon garnered a following among less demanding Western fans.
