Eddie (character from Frasier) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eddie (Crane) (born May 15, unknown year) is Frasier's father's dog in the American television sitcom Frasier.
He is known for responding to Marty and Daphne with human-like understanding, but a standing joke is that Eddie simply stares at Frasier, an example of a sight gag.
Eddie was often featured in the closing sequences of the sitcom when the closing theme is sung as the credits are given.

Frasier lives with his father, retired cop Martin Crane who was shot in the hip when he walked in on a robbery in progress and, because of that, he now walks with a cane.
Most of the humor is derived from Frasier's search for romance; social class conflict, particularly with his blue-collar ex-cop father; sibling rivalry; the pomposity of Frasier as a minor celebrity and patron of the local Seatle arts scene; and misunderstandings between the characters.
Although the character of Frasier Crane appeared in every episode, Kelsey Grammer was not present at the filming of the fourth season "Head Game" due to his treatment for drug problems.

BBC - Comedy Guide - Frasier
The absorption of the character into the regular team had added yet another spin to the complex comedic layers of that excellent show: the classically educated, uptight Dr Crane - and later his fiancée and eventual wife Lilith - were delightful additions to the popular clan.
The Frasier character grew as the atmosphere of the bar began to humanise this initially frosty individual; indeed, by the end of the show Frasier was almost a 'regular guy', albeit one saddled with a good deal of psychological baggage.
Frasier's radio work is also treated with scorn by his brother Niles, a fellow psychiatrist (as was their late mother) who considers the phone-in a cheapening of the profession, a sort of fairground side-show version of real psychiatry.

Frasier - Review - bid 'cheers' to Frasier
Frasier, played by the brilliant Kelsey Grammer (who voices Sideshow Bob in the Simpsons, and has a brilliant autobiography 'So Far'), is a psychiatrist born in Seattle to Martin Crane (who now lives with him) and his wife Mrs.Crane (I'll be honest...i've forgotten her name).
Frasier is, unsuprisingly, at the centre of the show and Kesley Grammer is a delight to watch as the lead role, a character that he has played now for a record thirteen years.
Niles Crane, Frasier's younger brother, is also a psychiatrist...a shared proffesion that leads to much sibling rivalry (especially in one episode where the two brothers attempt to share a psychiatrical practice together, with terrible results).
