Edward Holland, Jr. - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although Holland was an early Motown artist who recorded minor hits such as "Jamie", he started working behind the scenes due to stage fright.
He is best known as a member of Holland-Dozier-Holland, the songwriting and production team that was responsible for much of the Motown sound and numerous hit records by artists such as Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers.
Holland served as the team's lyricist, and also worked with producer Norman Whitfield on lyrics for the songs he produced for The Marvelettes and The Temptations.

Working mostly as the trio's lyricist, Holland was involved in a chain of hits, including twelve number ones (10 for the Supremes and two for the Four Tops).

Gordy signed Holland to his fledgling Motown Records concern in 1961, and was rewarded when Holland's Jamie, an affectionate parody of Jackie Wilson, became a US Top 30 hit.
Eddie Holland continued to compose and produce with his brother and Lamont Dozier when the trio formed the Invictus and Hot Wax labels in 1968.

Many recordings from his first LP are overblown attempts, musically and vocally, to make Holland a pop artist and may not go over well to lovers of that classic Motown sound.
