On February 11in 1937, Eddie Shack was born in Sudbury, Ontario.
Shack had two stints with Toronto, 1960-67 and 1973-75, he retired from playing in 1977 as a member of the Whitby Warriors of the OHA Sr.
Eddie Shack was traded by the Rangers to Detroit along with Bill Gadsby in February 1960 for Red Kelly and Billy McNeill.

In 1958-59 Shack began his NHL career with the New York Rangers, where in his second season he was sent down to the Springfield Indians for a short stint.
Shack did become the second player to have 20 goal seasons with 5 or more NHL teams; the first was Dean Prentice.
Shack was known as a bit of a wild man, a clown and even a tough guy, but beyond all that he was an exceptional skater, had a hard shot and was willing to do whatever it took to win.

As legend has it, Shack was playing in an NHL hockey game one night (before I was born maybe) and the opponents were making fun of this inability and being very mean to him about this.

The strong-willed Brewer started a drawn-out battle with the National Hockey League Pension Society by questioning the practices of then NHLPA head Alan Eagleson and organizing players to enter into a lawsuit against the NHL.
In April of 1991, Brewer was among seven former players, including Andy Bathgate, Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, Allan Stanley, Eddie Shack and Leo Reise, who filed a lawsuit in Canada against each NHL club, NHL president John Ziegler and the NHL Pension Society, claiming the owner had misallocated surplus pension money.
A judge ruled in favor of the players in October of 1992 and said the NHL clubs must reimburse pension surplus money the league had improperly used since 1982.
