Hartwell has been one of the mainstays on a Ravens defense over the last three seasons that is widely considered one of the best units in the NFL.
Hartwell posted 141 tackles last year, second on the team to LB Ray Lewis, with 83 solo tackles and also added one forced fumble in 15 starts to help the Ravens finish sixth overall in the NFL in total defense.
Hartwell started 15 games in 2003 and finished second on the team with 140 tackles with three sacks and two forced fumbles as the Ravens ranked third overall in the NFL in total defense and allowed just 281 points all season.
