		Epsom and Ewell (constituency), where I grew up, is one where "and" is more common than and, not least because of the borough council's use of "and" a lot (see their website).

		On the first of May 1707, according to the Acts of Union, the parliaments of Scotland and England were dissolved and a new parliament of Great Britain was established.
		The convention, although not the rule, is that in Burgh constituencies, such as Aberdeen North, the compass point comes after the Burgh name, whereas in County constituencies, such as West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, the compass point comes before the name of the County.
		Edinburghshire referred not to the City (Burgh) of Edinburgh, but to the County of Midlothian.

		John Gladstone was a friend of Sir Robert Peel the Prime Minister from 1834-5 and 1841-1846, who in later life conferred a baronetcy upon John Gladstone, sat in Parliament from 1818 to 1827 and was master of many slaves upon his various oversees properties and plantations.
		It also banned the purchase of food and drink for voters as well as setting a limit on the number of vehicles that could be used to transport voters to the polls.
		A constituency were the vote was controlled by usually one wealthy benefactor or occasionally a group of concerned businessmen.

		A favourite watering-place and a parliamentary burgh, the town stands on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth, 3 miles E of Edinburgh, 3 SE of Leith, and 2½ WNW of Musselburgh.
		The new Board School, on the Niddrie road, a little beyond the station, was built in 1875-76 at a cost of £7000, and is a good one-story edifice, semi-collegiate in style, with four classrooms and a central mixed school hall, 54 feet square and 27 high.
