		Still later versions of MS Windows ran independently of DOS but included much of the old code such that DOS could run in virtual machines under the new OS.
		There are a number of other emulators for running DOS under various versions of UNIX, even on non-x86 platforms.
		Microsoft decided to use backslashes as pathname separators rather than slashes as on Unix apparently due to the latter character being used as the switch character in most DOS and CP/M programs.

	Using MS-DOS
		From a DOS prompt you can enter EDIT two ways: the first is by typing EDIT and the filename you wish to edit, and the second is by typing EDIT and hitting the ENTER key.

		MS-DOS Editor is a useful program that opens or creates a plain text file and edits it.
		There are some major differences between them: The newer version can be used to edit custom language (non-European) files under Windows 9x, and it supports Windows style shortcut keys such as Ctrl + X, Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V. Additionally, it can have multiple files open at a time.

		This behavoir can be implemented on MS-DOS, but I cannot yet find time to do it.
		Main idea is to create "processes" as just information structures in memory, which hold argc, argv and IO redirection info, and execute them in order (due to single-tasking nature of DOS).
		[exec] isn't useful (DOS doesn't support multi-tasking, exactly), and there's no way of dynmically loading extensions, yet.
