In Edmonton Stratcona...the PC vote in 2000 was tiny...just a couple of percent and no one is going to close the gap with their votes, even if they unanimously swing to the Liberals or NDP or whoever.
Calgary and, in particular, Edmonton, are the exclusive beneficiaries of the jump in NDP support in Alberta.
The battleground in Edmonton is now in the 2 Liberal seats.

EDMONTON — Liberal leader Kevin Taft has been declared the winner his re-election bid in the riding of Edmonton-Riverview, with 63 per cent of the vote.
The Alberta Liberals won 32 seats in 1993 under then-leader and former Edmonton mayor Laurence Decore.
That's a big improvement over his performance in 2001 when he first won the seat with 49.7 per cent of the vote.

 Alberta Election Prediction Central --  27 - Edmonton-Centre
Edmonton Centre finally needs a level head to deal with issues in this city's core that far superceed taxpayer's grants to artists.
I think this becuase it has been proven that it is hard for P.C. to gain popularity in Edmonton.
I would pitch the experience of Don Weidman PC as an active member of the Senior's Housing issues, Alzheimer's Association, college board member and business consultant over Liberal Blakeman's claim to fame as an advocate for the arts community any day.

Edmonton - May 8, 2005 - RW Newswire: Alberta’s Finance Minister Shirley McClellan, responding to harsh criticism from the socially conservative faction in the PC party, has ordered the immediate clothing of the inflatable sex dolls at the Alberta Security Commission offices.

Back to the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues and the over 3 and a half million dollars that they were able to secure in grants.
I'm thinking of the Kenilworth Arena, the Citadel Theatre, and the Edmonton Police Service projects, all of which have been truly left in the lurch, and there's been no answer forthcoming from government on how they are going to be accommodated.
The last tabling is letters from Grace Millenaar of Edmonton, Darrell Nieberding of Edmonton, Larry Dyck of Calgary, and Barry Dahlseide of Leduc, and these Albertans want the government to maintain some access for off-highway vehicles in the Bighorn.

This was one of the few seats in Edmonton won by the Conservatives in 1997.
This election will test how much of Zwozdesky's support was personal, and how much came from running as a Liberal in their Edmonton stronghold.
This could be trouble for the Liberals, but they have nominated a strong candidate of their own in Kevin Taft, outspoken critic of the Klein government and author of books such as Shredding the Public Interest and Clear Answers.

Nancy MacBeth's defeat in Edmonton McClung was one of the stories of the night.
The ones I wish we could do over again would be Edmonton McClung and Calgary Buffalo ; our team chose the wrong riding to interfere in.
At one point during the election, we had it Liberal, at another, we called it "too close to call," and late in the campaign, the consensus seemed to the "NDP." I had joked with the team on Saturday that it would probably go PC, the one party we didn't predict.

EDMONTON - The University of Alberta's dean of nursing is calling for an official investigation after receiving complaints about raunchy, sexist lyrics that were sung at the annual medical students' MedShow this spring.
Because Kroll's report was not conclusive, Gomery said he could not conclude that large sums of money went to the Liberals.
The song, entitled The Nurses' Song and sung to a tune from Jesus Christ Superstar, reads, "You've been getting quite a name / All around the place / Being bitches / Screwing up meds / Now we understand you're whores." Its refrain includes, "Come on show me those boobs," repeated throughout the song.
