Edson Buddle (born May 21, 1981 in New Rochelle, New York) is an American soccer player, who currently plays striker for Red Bull New York of Major League Soccer.
Buddle played one year of college soccer at State Fair Community College, where he led State Fair to the 1999 NJCAA Division I National Championship.
Buddle helped the team win the Northeast Division, scoring 11 goals and 4 assists, and was a finalist for the A-League Rookie of the Year Award.

The irony, of course, is that Cunningham will fly the coop after this season, Buddle will get an offer as well, West will be dropped and McBride will see the habdwriting on the wall and accept that loan deal at Everton.
The Crew have McBride for that and when Cunningham and him team up the ball is usually played to their feet, IMO (withstanding the 3 game brain fart Andrulis had when he had Presthus chuck high ball after high ball at Cunningham).
When Buddle puts his game all together, he'll be better then both McBride and Cunningham combined.

I think many in Europe will take notice in the summer during the Olympics and that 2004 could be his last season in the MLS.
I think that the 2004 MLS season will be Buddle's last, the Olympics will be his stage where he will get noticed by the best leagues' in the world.

Edson Buddle should be starting upfront with Eddie Johnson.
Neither Bobby Convey nor Simms are forwards; therefore Buddle's inclusion or lack thereof has nothing to do with the inclusion with Simms at DM or Convey at LB or Midfield.
That said, I would hope he is still in line to get a shot at the Gold Cup, where taking a look at young players who may have a shot is more likely than the upcoming friendly as a prep for 2 WCQs.
