EduLinux is a Linux distribution intended for an office and educational use.
EduLinux was officially launched on June, 3rd 2003, but it's been more than a year that the EduLinux team has developed and debugged this totally free solution.
EduLinux is a complete ready-to-use package, including an operating system and a lot of software particularly suited for students of all ages.

Dean Marceau reminds that the EduLinux system, symbolized by the famous penguin, needs less resources than proprietary systems, which enables all the old computer of the Pentium class to come to life again.
The Faculty of Engineering of Sherbrooke has been the foreman and the making of EduLinux has been done by the members of GULUS, a student association of the Université de Sherbrooke, whose goal is to promote the use of Linux operating system as well as free softwares inside Sherbrooke community.
Université de Sherbrooke has of course began to implement EduLinux in certain laboratories and in its Carrefour de l'Information, on the main campus.

 Linux gets warm reception in Chile - ZDNet UK News
Chilean newspaper El Mercurio reported this week that EduLinux, a distribution of Linux tailored for educational use, will be rolled out across 600 schools in Chile.
The deployment will be carried out by Enlaces, an organisation that was created by the Chilean Ministry of Education to improve access to technology in schools.
EduLinux was evaluated in 25 establishments during 2004, according to El Mercurio.

 Chilean government moves to Linux in high schools
Linux Insider reports that Enlaces, the Chilean government's high school Internet access network, is planning to install Linux-based Edulinux thin-client systems at 600 schools, following a trial at 25 locations.
Edulinux is based on K12LTSP, a school-oriented spin-off of the Linux Terminal Server Project that allows schools to use old computers that lack the required resources to run modern applications or the latest operating systems.
The Edulinux-based thin client systems enable students to make use of modern applications, such as the Open Source Mozilla Internet suite and OpenOffice.org productivity suite, which run on a powerful, central computer.

10-10-2003, 01:44 AM Ive beed running linux (Edulinux based on mandrake 9.1) for about a week but without sound, how do i disable and reinstall sound drivers, and how do i know what driver to put for a specific card, they are all alike (snd-XXXX)?
Then try use google.com/linux to search for ur sound card.
Also does edulinux use ALSA or OSS for its sound?:cheers:
