If Edwards stopped at this point in the sermon and said “that is all I can say about this subject; you are all doomed and so am I,” I imagine their would be quite a few upset people leaving the message.
Edward’s solution to peoples’ problem, was that God had provided a sacrifice for the sinners’ sins that would completely cover over their own transgressions.
Edwards knew that in order for people to understand what he was trying to convey, they needed a right view of who they were as the creation, and who God was as the creator.

3 Wn.2d 579, JAMES BARBER WOODWORTH, Respondent, v. EDWARD J. EDWARDS et al., Individually and as Trustee, Appellants, ...
Edwards and Tilton filed a joint answer to the amended complaint, denying plaintiff's ownership of the property, and pleading affirmatively the existence of the corporation, the execution of the mortgage to Tilton, the sale to McVane, the alleged invalidity of this sale, and the validity and nonpayment of the Tilton mortgage.
Appellant Edwards contends that the trial court erred in dismissing his cross-complaint and in holding that he had abandoned the King county mortgage foreclosure action; that that action had abated; and that the statute of limitations had run against appellant's claim.
In this action, Edwards, in his cross-complaint, merely asked that his mortgage and his rights thereunder be established as a first and paramount lien on the property.

BookPage Interview May 2004: Bob Edwards
According to Edwards, the man who seemed the epitome of calm even when describing his own fear ("I began to breathe and to reflect again—that all men would be brave if only they could leave their stomachs at home"), was always a bit nervous on air despite a pre-broadcast whiskey.
Edwards writes: "Murrow, [William L.] Shirer, and company had just devised and executed what became the routine format for the presentation of news.
Edwards expresses similar displeasure with the state of broadcasting in the book's "Afterword." "Just be glad he was there at the beginning," he says of Murrow.
