When Johnson was Vice President of the Edison Electric Light Company, a predecessor of Con Edison, he created the first known electrically illuminated Christmas tree at his home in New York City in 1882.
When Johnson hired young 24 year old Thomas A. Edison, the contracted employee quickly outshone the particular company, and his enormous talents were brought to the attention of the principals of the company by Johnson.
Edward H. Johnson was a partner in the Edison Electric Lamp Company, a partnership formed in early 1881.

Johnson studied mathematics as his main subject but he was also extremely successful in his subsidiary subjects of physics and chemistry, winning a prize from the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.
Johnson's contribution to these, as well as his penetrating and challenging (but never aggressive) questioning of views expressed in lectures left no doubt among his teachers that we were contributing in a modest way to the training of a mathematical giant.
Johnson was a governor of the Royal Grammar School in Newcastle from 1987.

Born in Guelph in 1878, the son of a father who was active in local musical groups, Edward established a name for himself as a soloist in various church choirs and, at 16, became conductor of a Sunday school choir at one church and soloist at another.
Later that year Johnson joined the Chicago Opera Company where he was talked into using his own name and watched his years of European stardom slip into oblivion as the company was dominated by a backer who had her favourite singers and he was not among them.
Johnson was presented with the evening’s proceeds of $46,000.

Fidelity Investments said Abigail Johnson, 43, the company's largest shareholder and a leading candidate to succeed her father, chairman and chief executive Edward Johnson III, sold some of her voting stake in the mutual fund firm to family trusts.
Johnson was reassigned in May from Fidelity's investment-management division to its retirement-service group.
Johnson had mixed success in her four years as president of the investment group, Fidelity Management and Research Co. Its funds struggled to match past performance or returns posted by rivals including American Funds and Vanguard Group.

The attached hearing report of Administrative Law Judge Susan J. DuBois in the matter of the application of Edward Johnson for construction of a house and related structures in the Village of Westhampton Beach, Town of Southampton, Suffolk County, is hereby adopted as the Decision in this matter subject to my comments below.
The hearing record demonstrates that the project does not comply with the standards for issuance of a tidal wetlands permit nor with the standards for granting the variances from the development restrictions which would be necessary in order for the project to be approved.
Johnson's estate, authorized the representative of the Applicant to continue the hearing process for the project on behalf of the estate.

Elizabeth Woodberry Johnson (or at least I think it is her) was listed in Horry also, next door to her cousin-in-law Ann, widow of John L. Johnson (1787).
The young Edward Johnson living with them seems to be John's little brother instead of his child (but I could be wrong), as in later years (1870 and 1880) he was living with John's father or mother).
At first I was sure he was a grandson of William, and not a son, as he already had a son named "Edward", but that Edward died in 1855, and it has been known to happen where a new child is named for one who died young.

Edward Johnson was born in Virginia, April 16, 1816, graduated from West Point in 1838 and then promoted second lieutenant of the Sixth U.S. Infantry.
In February, 1863, he was promoted major-general, and at the reorganization following the death of Jackson he was put in command of a division of the Second corps of the army of Northern Virginia, under Lieutenant-General Ewell, comprising Steuart's, Nicholls', J. Jones' and the Stonewall brigades.

Edward Carl Johnson was born on a farm in southern Minnesota in 1880.
Johnson accepted the position of Superintendant of Institutes and Demonstrations at Kansas State Agricultural College in 1912, and was the Dean of College Extension from 1915 to 1918.
Most of the approximately 500 photographs were taken on Johnson's tour of farms and agricultural experiment stations in Colombia in 1947, although some are of European agriculture dating from his extensive travels in 1937.
