  Layton City - Edward Phillips
Edward Phillips was born April 2, 1813 in Oxenhall, Gloucestershire, England the son of William and Mary Ann Presdee Phillips.
Edward and his mother were members of the United Brethren congregation until missionaries representing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints preached in the vicinity of their hometown.
Edward Phillips acted as a first counselor to LDS Bishop William Kay from 1851 to 1856.

Edward H. Phillips, MD, FACS, is Director of the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery and Director of Endoscopic Surgery for the Department of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai.
As of July 1st 2005 Dr. Phillips was appointed Executive Vice Chairman of the Dept. of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai and the Director of the Division of General Surgery for the Hospital.
Phillips is a member of several professional societies, including the Pacific Coast Surgical and Western Surgical Societies and the American College of Surgeons, for which he is a Governor.
