Edward's other characters ran the gammut from hard knoxs police officers or prosecutors, to sympathetic fathers, lawmen, mobsters, murderers, townsfolk and school principals.
Edward's son told me that, even though as the Chief we see him smoke 7 times in "Get Smart's" run, Edward used to smoke a pipe and then turned to cigarettes, smoking about a pack a day of Parliaments.

There are two other pages of Platts of Glossop at this site, the first dealing with people who may be connected to my family (but I haven't found the link yet) and the other of the remaining Platt references I found in the Glossop parish registers.
No record of birth or baptism found but naming patterns mean that she must be the daughter of James and Ellen (see family #15 on the first Syddall page).
