Prior was appointed lieutenant-governor in 1919 but became ill and died in office within a year of his appointment.

The media keep telling me Canadians want change, but it seems to me Canadians are inclined to vote for the lesser of two evils (Liberal versus Conservative), preferring the devil they know to the devil(s) they don't (NDP and Green).
Prior generations pushed us to go to university/college because there would be plenty of jobs for us when we get out.
I think it is horribly sad that more Canadians are familiar with the politics of the U.S. than they are with those of their own country.

A Canadian who arrived in 1844 and took an active part in the Bear Flag revolt.
Fell Street was probably named for him although it has been often stated that the street was named for Edward L. Fell, a contractor who made a specialty of raising sunken ships and moving houses.
Edward Fell’s obituary in the Alta California in 1864 seems to eliminate him, however, because he was only 19 years old in 1854, and Fell Street appears on a map published in that year.

Roger Cardinal Mahony of Los Angeles has said that a bishop or priest cannot deny Holy Communion to a pro-abortion politician who has not yet been excommunicated, placed under interdict, or put under a formal sanction.
He notes that canon 915 says that those who "obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion." That canon does not say that the person must be under a formal sanction, and it certainly is the case that "chronically supporting abortion is a grave sin."
Finally, let me make a small adjustment to the unnamed priest's comment: I would put "liberal" or "mainline" before "Protestants," because the religion espoused by pro-abortion Catholic politicians is quite different from the Protestantism held by Evangelicals.
