Oliver Cromwell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oliver Cromwell was descended from Catherine Cromwell (born circa 1482), an older sister of Tudor statesman Thomas Cromwell.
Catherine was married to Morgan ap Williams, son of William ap Yevan of Wales and Joan Tudor.
Cromwell's alleged paternal ancestor, Jasper Tudor, was a younger brother of Edmund Tudor, 1st Earl of Richmond, uncle to his son Henry VII of England, and son of Owen Tudor and Catherine of Valois, daughter of Charles VI of France and Isabeau of Bavaria.

Mary I of England   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
Edward VI died in 1553 whilst Mary was staying at Framlingham Castle in Suffolk.
Under the guidance of John Dudley, 1st Duke of Northumberland, Edward VI instead devised the Crown to the Lady Jane Grey, a descendant of Henry VIII's younger sister, Mary Tudor, Duchess of Suffolk, and the Duke of Northumberland's daughter-in-law.
When Mary ascended the Throne, she was proclaimed under the same official Style as Henry VIII and Edward VI: "Mary, by the Grace of God, Queen of England, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith and of the Church of England and also of Ireland in Earth Supreme Head".

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Mary Tudor
Cardinal Wolsey was her godfather, and amongst her most intimate friends in early life were Cardinal Pole and his mother, the Countess of Salisbury, put to death in 1539 and now beatified.
Like all Tudor princesses she had been well educated, speaking Latin, French, and Spanish with facility, and she was in particular an accomplished musician.
It repealed the savage Treason Act of Northumberland's government, passed an act declaring the queen legitimate, another for the restitution of the Mass in Latin, though without penalties for non-conformity, and another for the celibacy of the clergy.

 Tudor Homes
Owen Tudor, grandfather of King Henry VII Tudor style refers to the style of architecture and decorative arts modelled on the original Tudor architecture produced in England between 1485 and 1603.
The Tudor dynasty began with the secret marriage between Owen Tudor and Catherine of Valois; gaining strength in the only Earl of Richmond to become King of England and ending when Elizabeth died childless.
This coincides with the rule of the Tudor dynasty in England, with the exception of Elizabeth I. Occasionally the term is used more broadly to capture Elizabeth's reign as well, though in general 1558 – 1603 is treated separately as the Elizabethan era.

Tenpole Tudor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tenpole Tudor was a British punk band led by Edward Tudor-Pole.
Tudor-Pole himself (under the moniker of Eddie Tenpole) came to prominence as a replacement for Johnny Rotten in the Sex Pistols in 1978, although he only sang "Who Killed Bambi?", "The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle" and an unlikely cover version of "Rock Around The Clock".
He returned in 1980 as lead singer of his own band, Tenpole Tudor, along with Bob Kingston (guitar), Dick Crippen (bass guitar) and Gary Long (drums).

 tudor
Actor, songwriter, musician, man-about-town, Mr Tudor Pole has been purveying his punk rock ‘n’ roll rhythms since the mid 1970s.
He played an integral part in the rebellious melodrama that surrounded the Sex Pistols, and later made his mark on the British hit parade with his popular beat combo Ten Pole Tudor.
Today he may be seen about London’s Soho, strikingly and dapperly dressed and sharing his firm views on the current degradation of the English language.

The Pole bit goes back hundreds of years, to the Norman Conquest.
I'm really Edward Pole but my great-grandfather did some genealogy and worked out some connection with the royal house of Tudor, so he added Tudor to the Pole.
And then on the advert for Who Killed Bambi, which was rush released, it said introducing Ten Pole Tudor.

The Life and Death of Peter Sellers - Movie Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
It's almost become something of a cliché for comedy legends to be haunted by inner demons.
Couple that with Hopkins' at-times painfully slow direction and you're left with a viewing experience which rapidly turns into a bit of a chore.
Also among this impressive line-up are the likes of Stephen Fry, Nigel Havers, Edward Tudor-Pole, Heidi Klum, and Mackenzie Crook.

 The Crystal Maze - UKGameshows
Firstly, it wasn't really a maze at all - a better description might be: a circuit of four inter-connecting play areas or "time zones".
The titles rolled and we were greeted by Edward ("but you can call me Ed") Tudor-Pole, the second Mazemaster.
To be fair, Ed didn't do a bad job at all of presenting the Maze, it's just that Richard O'Brien was so good at improvising, hamming it up and going over the top that Ed seemed somewhat stilted in comparison.

Life and Death of Peter Sellers, The Review (2004)
During the 1950s, Peter Sellers (Geoffrey Rush) was famous on British radio for his comic roles in The Goon Show, but although he had a relatively happy home life with his wife Anne (Emily Watson) and their two young children, he wanted more out of his career.
And so it is that Sellers divorces the long-suffering Anne, tells his children that he still loves them but loves Loren more, and has to end up shagging Loren's stand-in in the back of his car because the object of his desire is just not interested.
It is Woodruff who tells him to watch out for a person with the intials B.E. Woodruff meant Blake Edwards (John Lithgow), the director of The Pink Panther, the film that made Sellers a global star, but Sellers thought the initials must belong to Swedish starlet Britt Ekland (Charlize Theron), who he promptly married.

Probably best known for his appearances in 'The Crystal Maze' and on Top of The Pops, Ed has appeared in numerous films and plays, including The Rocky Horror Show, The Great Rock and Roll Swindle with The Sex Pistols, White Hunter, Black Heart with Clint Eastwood and more recently as Mr.

But this is a new age Ed Tenpole, not wanting to be seen living on memories, a new album is being worked on, and he can be seen on club circuit with his solo show, or on the larger venue's warming up the crowd for the Sex Pistols Experience.
Ed Tudor Pole can be booked directly for acoustic solo show's, T.V work, appearances, or as a double package with the Sex Pistols Experience through 'Ollie-wood Promotions.'

This wonderful, over-the-top crew of rowdies was led by the inimitable Edward Tudor-Pole, a looney Londoner whose wobbly vocals lend the proper air of debauchery to the band's hard-driving arias.
Eddie Old Bob Dick and Gary contains such classy trash as "Wunderbar," "3 Bells in a Row" and "Swords of a Thousand Men," replete with bizarre concepts, catchy melodies and loopy singing.
The great tracks co-exist with some real dogs, but when Tenpole Tudor are on the mark, their good humor and rock energy are undeniably infectious.

Movie Info for The Life and Death of Peter Sellers on MSN Movies
In the late '50s, Sellers rose to fame on the wildly popular radio series The Goon Show alongside Spike Milligan (Edward Tudor Pole) and Harry Secombe (Steve Pemberton), but as his success on radio gave way to stardom on the big screen, Sellers' ego began to get the better of him.
While working on a film with Sophia Loren (Sonia Aquino), Sellers fell in love with the great Italian beauty, and eventually left his wife Anne (Emily Watson) to pursue her; when it became clear that Loren wanted nothing to do with him, Sellers fell into an affair with her stand-in instead.
But Sellers' mood swings eventually put paid to their marriage, and while he finds commercial success as a funnyman onscreen, he achieves little in the way of happiness or respect.

Some years after the French Revolution, the Marquis de Sade (Geoffrey Rush), a notorious writer of scandalous prose, is held captive in the Charenton mental asylum.
He also contributed to the story of Raiders of the Lost Ark; considering his talent, it's surprising how few films he has directed.

Political Philosophy of John Locke [Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy]
Nonetheless, Cromwell was, in many respects, a highly capable ruler — rejecting the offered crown to become a de jure monarch, and realising what a political vacuum the dissolution of the monarchy implied he appointed good judges to ensure the rule of law, encouraged religious toleration, liberty of conscience and the immigration of Jews.
The Republic was a strange political beast, taking over in a country wracked by war the powers that the Tudors and early Stuarts (James I and Charles I) had arrogated to themselves, and whose traditional, but by then very well worn down, checks on arbitrary executive and legislative power were thereby diminished.
It is unsurprising that the country swiftly descended into a military dictatorship under Oliver Cromwell’s rule.

In many ways this feels less like a proper movie than a pageant patched together from impersonations, some poor (Tucci's Kubrick), some passable (Theron's Britt Ekland may be the best on show), others mute and virtually invisible (Edward Tudor Pole's Milligan).
Centre stage, of course, is Rush's almost oppressively virtuoso, but unilluminating, lead turn, lent wobbly support from Margoyles as Sellers' doting/domineering mother Peg.
