Dunham prosecuted espionage and fraud defendants and represented clients including W. Mark Felt, the confidential source known as Deep Throat, who was key to the Washington Post's coverage of the Watergate scandal.
Dunham was an assistant US attorney in Alexandria from 1971 to 1978, rising to the number two position in the office.
Dunham leaves sons Frank III Dunham of Rockville, Md., and John Dunham or Richmond, Va.; a brother; and a grandson.

Frank W. Dunham Jr., 64, who fought for Zacarias Moussaoui and other well-known terrorism suspects as the first federal public defender in Alexandria, died Nov. 3 of brain cancer at his Alexandria home.
Dunham's co-counsels, said, "His work on the Moussaoui case was outstanding" but was overshadowed by what he did for "enemy combatant" Yaser Esam Hamdi.
Dunham personally argued before the U.S. Supreme Court the case of Hamdi, a U.S. citizen held as a combatant by the military.

Corporal Dunham was in Karabilah, Iraq on April 14, 2004 when an insurgent leaped out of a vehicle and attacked him.
In the ensuing struggle the insurgent released a grenade and Corporal Dunham immediately warned his fellow Marines and covered the grenade with his helmet and body.

Another prominent and talented terror-law attorney, Edward B. McMahon, Jr., who also represented Moussaoui, said over the weekend that Dunahm's work on the Hamdi case was "one of the greatest accomplishments ever by an American attorney" and that is no great exaggeration.
You're probably 50th on the list of people he wants to get, I'm in front of you, and if he gets all the way to you we're in bigger trouble than we think.

Observations at the W. Keck Observatory which operates the world’s two largest telescopes in Hawaii for the University of California, Caltech, and NASA, were particularly crucial in confirming the planet’s existence.
The newfound planet is a Jupiter-sized gas giant orbiting a star located about 500 light years from the Earth in the constellation Lyra.

 Tiny David Telescope Finds Goliath Planet
It was made using the Trans-Atlantic Exoplanet Survey (TrES), a network of small, relatively inexpensive telescopes designed to look specifically for planets orbiting bright stars.
A team of scientists co-led by David Charbonneau (CfA/Caltech), Timothy Brown of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and Edward Dunham of Lowell Observatory developed the TrES network.
