Edward von Kloberg III (January 9, 1942 - May 1, 2005) was an American lobbyist, infamous for his representation of some of the most notorious dictators of the 20th century.
Born Edward Joseph Kloberg III (he added a "van" to his name in the 1960s and changed it to "von" on the advice of Arnaud de Borchgrave, who told him it was more "distinguished") in New York City, he was the son of an engineer who built housing projects.
Von Kloberg eventually went on to represent Saddam Hussein, Samuel K. Doe of Liberia, Nicolae Ceauşescu of Romania and Mobuto Sese Seko of the then-Zaire.

Long a fixture of the DC party circuit, Kloberg was known for his Continental manners (although he was born in NYC) and his silk capes.

It should excoriate him, the scum he represented and the politicos, "socialites and journalists" in DC and elsewhere who listened to him and who allowed his lavish parties and God-knows-what-else influence their decisions.
It is people like Kloberg and their admirers who help make this planet the strife torn and misery wracked place it is. That the Washington Post can't recognize that is a sad commentary on the state of modern journalism...or at least the 'sophisticates' who work at the Post.
