  Edwin Thompson Jaynes - July 5, 1922 - April 30, 1998
was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Ethyl and Edwin Jaynes.
Jaynes' thesis was extensively modified and later published by the Princeton University Press in 1953 [3] in the series Investigations In Physics.
Jaynes had essentially four different areas of research: his first could be called applied classical electrodynamics; his second, information theory (entropy as a measure of information); his third, probability theory; and finally, semiclassical and neoclassical radiation theory.

 Bayesian probability - Gurupedia
Another line of argument is based on probability as an extension of ordinary logic to degrees of belief other than 0 and 1.
The main protagonists of the objectivist school are Edwin Thompson Jaynes (who died in 1998) and Harold Jeffreys.
Some schools of thought emphasise Cox's theorem and Jaynes' principle of maximum entropy as cornerstones of the theory, while others may claim that Bayesian methods are more general and give better results in practice than frequency probability.

In one short day it will be impossible to do justice to all dimensions of Ed Jaynes' vast interests, accomplishments, and associations.
However, the symposium will aspire to capture, in a mix of good science and fond remembrances, something of the freshness, intellectual excitement, and iconoclastic delight that we all felt when we were in Ed's good company.

Shannon gave his measure the name of entropy, because it models the similar concept with the same name in thermodynamics: the higher the entropy of a thermodynamic system, the higher our uncertainty about the state of the system, or, in other words, the higher its disorder.
A similar fate befell Edwin Thompson Jaynes (1922 1998) in the 50s, 60s and 70s, although he did add mathematical rigour to the somewhat intuitive ideas of Je#reys,

The Bayesian approach has been explored by Harold Jeffreys, Richard Threlkeld Cox, Edwin Thompson Jaynes and I.
Advocates of logical (or objective epistemic) probability, such as Harold Jeffreys, Rudolf Carnap, Richard Threlkeld Cox and Edwin Thompson Jaynes, hope to codify techniques whereby any two persons having the same information relevant to the truth of an uncertain proposition would calculate the same probability.
Some schools of thought emphasise Cox's theorem and Jaynes' principle of maximum entropy as cornerstones of the theory, others (e.g., Ramsey, di Finetti) approach it from the point of view of a Dutch book, still others may claim that Bayesian methods are more general and give better results in practice than frequency probability.

 3 Modelling: measures of information
However, it is “objective” in the sense that each observer comes to the same conclusion when given the same information.
In fact, it doesn’t mean much: one always knows something about the system one is interested in; or, at least, one could come up with some models, even though one would have no idea about the values of the parameters in it.
Or, in the words of Jaynes: “merely knowing the physical meaning of our parameters [in a model], already constitutes highly relevant prior information which our intuition is able to use at once” (emphasis is Jaynes’s).
