  Effective Nonviolent Action
The theory of nonviolent action developed over the last century tells us that NVA is most effective when we use it to undermine the support which allows the status quo to continue.
Effective nonviolent action should clearly expose the current situation, how it is harmful, and how it violates principles that most people embrace, and then present an alternative and show why that alternative is superior.
Before any action it is good to have already convinced or at least adequately informed large numbers of our friends and at least some of the news media so their interest and support will counter the condemnation we will likely get from the established order.

The strategies presented in the Action Guide are based on research that has demonstrated the value of prevention and of comprehensive approaches to school safety that involve the entire education community--principals, teachers, counselors, parents, and students.
Effective schools usually form a small number of teams composed of professionals and support personnel who are responsible for these decisions.
An effective schoolwide management system is one in which all students know and can explain the school's expectations for behavior, as well as the incentives and consequences associated with adhering to or violating the expectations.

Action Research as Teacher Professional Development
Effective action research projects require that the participants initiate and design the process, including collaboratively defining the goals and outcomes, within the context of their own classroom and school environment.
Action research is a form of reflective practice that is well known and second nature to teachers (Johnston, 1994) but with the addition of a strong emphasis on collaboration and dissemination of found knowledge.
Action research incorporated inquiry learning that is already intrinsic to teachers practice with collaboration and sharing of problems, data collection, theoretical, personal and professional reflections, action and a renewal of the spiral together to improve student and teacher learning.

Designing Effective Action Alerts for the Internet
An action alert is a message that someone sends out to the net asking for a specific action to be taken on a current political issue.
Both types of action alerts are obviously modeled on things that have been happening on paper, through telephone trees, and lately via fax machines, for a long time.
A chain-letter petition is an action alert that includes a list of names at the end; it invites people to add their own name to the list, send in the petition if their name is the 30th or 60th etc, and in any case forward the resulting alert-plus-signature-list to everyone they know.

Make sure they get the exact time and place of the action, and phone numbers where you or someone else on the media team can be reached from that moment until the action.
You "have an action" at the moment protesters are in place and/or the image and banner are deployed.

Ten Tips for Writing Effective Action Alerts — ONE/Northwest
In the past few years, the Internet has emerged as a primary vehicle for publishing "Action Alerts." An action alert is a message that someone sends out on the net asking for a specific action to be taken on a current political issue.
Action alerts on the Internet are modeled on alerts that have historically been published on paper and lately via fax machines, for a long time.
This phenomenon of chain-forwarding is important, and it behooves the would-be author of an action alert, whether a single message or a whole campaign, to think through its consequences.

Action to counter criminal proliferation to and by non-State actors has thus become an important component of counter-terrorism.
While pre-emptive action against terrorists within the territory of a country by the Government of that country poses no problems, pre-emptive action against terrorists operating from sanctuaries in the territories of other countries bristles with difficulties.

Why Taking Action Isn't Enough - by Kevin Wirth
While it’s true that taking no action won’t get you very far, taking any old action is a recipe for disaster, and the sooner you learn this, the better off you’ll be.
The same logic holds true in business – some actions are not effective, and may even be detrimental to your business.
Effective action means you have a goal or the end in mind, and the actions you take will enable you to achieve that goal.

 Strategic Plan Advancing America's Health
The FDA is also responsible for advancing the public health by helping to speed innovations that make medicines and foods more effective, safer, and more affordable; and helping the public get the accurate, science-based information they need to use medicines and foods to improve their health.
While these systems are effective in identifying rare and often serious adverse events, their reliance on health care providers and incomplete reporting means that appropriate detection and response to adverse events may be less timely and effective than is desirable.
To respond effectively to terrorism-related emergencies and crises, the FDA must be prepared for a wide range of circumstances and contingencies.

Bullying in school: guidelines for effective action
It is now widely accepted that bullying is prevalent in all schools; that it is extremely harmful to the health, well-being and the academic progress of a substantial minority of students; and, moreover, actions taken by the school and by parents can significantly reduce its occurrence.
Thanks to years of applied social research in the area of bullying in schools, reliable guidelines to effective action to reduce bullying in schools can be provided.
It is tempting to heap blame upon the bully and by association the bully's parents, when cooler counsel suggests that the wiser course is to share one's concern for the victim and point to how the behaviour of the son or daughter is contributing to this unhappy state.
