  Eicosane - Biocrawler
Eicosane (also known as icosane or didecyl) is an alkane hydrocarbon with the chemical formula CH Eicosane has little use in the petrochemical industry, as its high flash point makes it an inefficient fuel.
Due to its chemical inactivity, n-eicosane (a fully straight-chain structural isomer of eicosane) is part of the paraffin group, and is the shortest molecule in the compounds used to form candles.
Eicosane's size, state or chemical inactivity does not exclude it from the traits its smaller alkane counterparts have.

Because of its large molecular mass, eicosane's state at room temperature is a colourless waxy solid; however, despite its high incompatibility with oxidising agents, it is still classified as a combustable material.

The correlation coefficients (R)of the trained and estimated values were 0.976 and 0.948 respectively, and the AAD for trained and estimated values were 0.209 and 0.296.This result shows that the proposed estimation method using ANN is accurate enough to estimate solubility, and that the parameters used were suitable as descriptors.
One of them was the estimation of n - eicosane solubilities in HFEs, HFKs and chlorine containing compounds, and the other was the estimation of solubilities of HFEs in polyol PE - 315.
The former solubility estimation was studied by using the interaction parameter c evaluated by the Monte Carlo technique, with the observed liquid density and molecular weight as descriptors.

Surface tension of decane binary and ternary mixtures with eicosane, docosane and tetracosane
A tensiometer operating on the Wilhelmy plate method was employed to measure liquid-vapor interfacial tensions of 3 binary and one ternary mixtures of decane with eicosane, docosane and tetracosane.
Binary mixtures n-C10H22 + n-C20H42, n-C10H22 + n-C22H46 and n-C10H22 + n-C24H50 and the ternary n-C10H22 + n-C20H42 + n-C24H50 were measured from 293.15 K (or above the solution melting temperature) up to 343.15 K. An average absolute deviation of 1.3 % was obtained against pure component literature data.

Eicosane (also known by the IUPAC name icosane or as didecyl) is an alkane hydrocarbon with the chemical formula CH Eicosane has little use in the petrochemical industry, as its high flash point makes it an inefficient fuel.
Its non-polar trait means it can only perform weak hydrogen intermolecular bonding (Hydrophobic/Van der Waal's forces).
Eicosane's phase transition at a moderate temperature makes it a candidate phase change material, or PCM which can be used to store thermal energy and control temperature.

Land Remediation Section - Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons in Solids by GC/FID
Specified Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) results are subtracted from EPH concentrations to arrive at LEPH and HEPH, using the procedure outlined in the British Columbia Ministry of Environment, Land and Parks (BCMELP) method "Calculation of Light and Heavy Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons in Solids and Waters" (July, 99).
If the calculated concentration of eicosane in the Control Standard varies by more than 15% from the expected target, then the calibration is suspect.
For each analysis batch, verify that the initial calibration is adequate by performing all tests specified in the Initial Calibration QC section (section 11.3), ensuring that all specified acceptance criteria are met.
