  Eielson AFB
Eielson AFB is located 26 miles southeast of Fairbanks in central Alaska's Fairbanks-North Star Borough.
In all nearly 8,000 aircraft passed through Alaska, were turned over to the Russians and ferried over the "air bridge." The aircraft were completely stripped of everything except basic instrumentation and armament.
Eielson also has an important mission thanks to its close working relationship with the Army in Alaska - specifically, the 6th Infantry Division (Light) at Forts Wainwright, Greely and Richardson.

The Lady Ravens are a fastpitch softball team that competes in the Mid Alaska Conference.

Their plane took off from Ladd AFB, 26 miles west of Eielson, and luckily had sufficient altitude to land at Eielson by the pilot allowing the plane to turn slowly toward the side with the drag which was also the direction to Eielson.
