I've encountered many towns in Germany where the town's identity came via a single impressive landmark that attracted all the tourists and attention, while the rest of the town was perhaps overlooked.
Eisenach's streets were tight and windy, and I got lost a few times (it didn't help that several streets were completely dug up at the time).
