Today's topic was "Pietism and Luther's Family Background" and started with a lecture by Dr. Hendel on "Halle Pietism." The group heard about the idea of was later called Pietism and how actually Halle became the center of the German pietist movement.
Christiane, a very engaged young woman and a student at one of the faculties at the Francke Foundation, led the group through the main complex and also shared a few personal stories about her life with us.
The later afternoon took the group to Eisleben, the site of both Luther's birth and death as well as the place where Luther preached his last sermons.
