Capt G.E. Magnusson joined Lorentz at Utti in 1934 from a maritime reconnaissance squadron and served as a flight commander in the squadron which was commanded by major Richard Lorentz from the 1st of March 1934.
Magnusson respected the lessons he had learned in France and reassured Lorentz that the defensive armament of bombers was very effective in the great aviation countries and that their machine gun shooters very skillful so a lot of fighters would be needed to shoot down a bomber.

Magnusson's Brewster squadron, Harju-Jeanty's Fiat squadron and Sirén's Morane squadron were tasked to protect the mobilization of the field army and the concentration transports to south-eastern Finland.
On 18 July 1942 Magnusson's squadron was transferred from Hirvas to Römpötti on the western shores of the Karelian Isthmus.
Magnusson also made sure that there would be direct phone lines to the squadron command post so that the fighter controllers could alert the squadron via phone immediately when they received the first messages.

Though I have great respect for the present inspector general of our army (Mood) I think present perspective and doctrines are too focused on problems of the present.
As for high intensity warfare scenario defence of our homeland, I think the Eka Magnusson (head of Finnish fighter force during WW-2) approach to development of operational/tactical doctrines of defence is a prime example of how to do it right.
He basicaly took the best of foreign ideas and mixed them with local ideas into a peculiar brand of local doctrine tailored to the constraints under which the Finns had to contend themselves in case of a war with the Soviet Union.
