Device helps doctors dissolve blood clots
Ekos co-founder Doug Hansmann spent the past nine years developing an ultrasound catheter to help doctors quickly dissolve blood clots in the legs, arms and brain.
It has been a long road for Ekos, which was formed in 1996 after the ultrasound technology was secured from two doctors in Fukuoka, Japan.
The medical director at the Midwest Vascular Institute of Illinois said the device sped up the removal of blood clots in each of the four patients he has used it on, three with clots in the legs and one with a clot in the chest.

 Bewildering Stories: ekos_robot
And somehow, long after Ekos decided to become confused almost as confused as confusion was confused, time came to a slow efflux, a stream colluding to a mix of energy and wax, synthetic eclipses evading escape, like piles of time warps inside of a gel.
But indeed, Ekos decided, time was something altogether too confusing to contemplate, and such as it was, Ekos decided to never decide again, and let the course of nature decide for it.
Time came again, and suddenly Ekos knew that it was the antagonist to battle against, and also that the world would come to a sudden, abrupt, and ever so ghastly end if time were not defeated and conquered like the essence of wave functions collapsed in blue slime.

Still, the EKOS poll found 75% of those surveyed -- up 10% compared with last year -- did not favour a common North American currency over the Canadian dollar.
Andrew Parkin, assistant director at the research centre, said yesterday the EKOS finding shows that Canadians "understand 'union' in a very pragmatic sense as in dealing with an economic framework, but they don't see it as a threat to the country.

About two dozen EKOs that may have formed closer to the Sun but subsequently were scattered by Uranus and Neptune (called "Centaurs and scattered disk objects") have also been discovered in highly inclined, elliptical orbits extending as far out as 200 AU.
One hypothesis is that these outer EKOs may be relatively smaller (less than or equal to 400 km or 250 miles in diameter) and inhabit a thin plane that is inclined by at least 0.5° from the plane of the ecliptic.
Numerical simulations suggest that infalling dust from the EKO dust disk is gathered into MMRs by Neptune -- observed as brighter "arcs" in the disk -- before moving further inward towards the Sun, where Jupiter and Saturn eventually eject 80 percent of the inward moving dust.

 JAST 5 Gumusbas
Destruction of “ekos” is accompanied by the fisherman’s becoming, as Olson would say, quoting Herodotus, “estranged from that with which he is most familiar” (The Special View of History 25).
Yet, due to human destruction of “ekos,” even the flood is devoid of its constitutive element, that is, of water, and can only be a “reverse deluge” and a “flood of dryness” (9).
Once Olson’s notion of ideal economy is located in the context of his project concerning Gloucester, some aspects of his ideal can be traced into his poetics, not as the subject matter of his poetry but as a sensibility defining the way in which the poet relates to his material.
