California Highways (www.cahighways.org): El Camino Real
In June of 1998, the California State Dept. of Transportation and the Mexican National Institute of Anthropology and History, in conjuction with CFWC and The Knights of Columbus, dedicated a bell on the international border at the San Ysidro/Tijuana crossing.
The bells, manufactured by California Bell, were cast from a mold made from one of the original bells installed before 1910, they are an exact copy of the original bells, unlike the bells installed on or near El Camino Real by the CFWC and others.
El Camino Real de los Tejas and variations in the primary route were used for more than 150 years as the principal route between Mexico City, Saltillo, Monclova, and respective presidios, and the missions near the present Guerrero, Coahuila, Mexico, on the Rio Grande and Los Adaes in what is now northwestern Louisiana.

El Camino Real (California) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
El Camino Real (Spanish for "The Kings Highway") traditionally refers to the 600–mile (966–kilometer) long California Mission Trail between Mission San Diego de Alcalá in San Diego and Mission San Francisco Solano in Sonoma.
The iconic status of El Camino Real on the San Francisco Peninsula (where it is signed as Route 82, and usually abbreviated as El Camino) is such that navigation is usually done relative to it, and it defines logical north and south in the area, even though it is closer to north-west/south-east.
In the FORTRAN language, a 'real' is a number typically precise to seven significant figures, and a `double precision' quantity is a larger floating-point number, precise to perhaps fourteen significant digits (other languages have similar 'real' types).

California State Route 82 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Route 82, referred to by local residents almost always as "El Camino," runs through a number of cities on the Peninsula, including Palo Alto, San Carlos, San Mateo, and Millbrae, and it is a central artery of the Peninsula communities through which it passes.
Originally a segment of U.S. Highway 101 (and before that, the historic El Camino Real), rapid growth of the San Francisco Bay Area after World War II, including urbanization of the towns along its path, made it completely inadequate for the needs of traffic.
It was defined as two portions: From Route 101 near Ford Road south of San Jose to Route 101 in San Francisco (which today corresponds to the Alemany Maze), and from Route 101 near Alemany Boulevard to Route 87 (current unbuilt Route 230) in San Francisco.
