	BIOGRAPHY
		Following the brief stint of attention El Greco received in 2001, many watched as he completely disappeared from the face of the earth.
		The first album was aptly titled "The First Album," and contained a dozen plus songs constructed of samples by various rock and metal bands combined with lines straight off of children's records.
		El Greco has gone and rerecorded a chunk of old material (most of which are the songs performed on the BDF tour) with much better equipment, in order to help people understand what he had always heard in his head.

		This 1998 album expands the original 'Tribute To El Greco' (released semi-privately in Athens in 1995) to a full-length CD by adding three tracks (Movements III, V and VII) to the original ones, which have not been tampered with for this international release, only reordered slightly.
		Anyway, a great album it was so this re-release has been much welcomed by fans unable to get hold of the original.
		This becomes apparent from a rare personal note by Vangelis in the booklet, which is basically the mystic statement that, in order to be a truly creative artist, one must be true to one's own nature and thus to Cosmic nature in general, as they are identical.

		El Caballero de la Mano en el Pecho (1578-80), The Knight with a Hand on His Chest or The Knight's Oath as it is sometimes known due to the character's position, is the painting used by Vangelis as the album cover for
		Intriguingly the position of the hand is exactly the same as the hand on the cross in Cristo con la Cruz (1590-95), The Christ with the Cross.
		Both paintings can be found on exhibition in El Prado in Madrid.

		I can see El Greco learned and travelling through the streets and buildings of Italy where learns a different style of painting, different from Byzantine icons.
		This is the track that convinced me that if a film version of El Greco should appear, this should be the soundtrack.
		However, if you ever look at El Greco's paintings, the color choices do not seem to fit the piece.

		This makes the album seem more like a studio album than like a soundtrack.
		A magnificent collection of melodic music, filled with choirs as well as appropriate synthesizers and native sounds this album sounds relaxing and exciting at the same time.

		This album was originally a limited release as a fundraiser for the National Gallery of Art, Athens to purchase some of El Greco's paintings from other museums (Britain and Spain they have bought from recently and those purchases made wire service news but Vangelis' name was not mentioned).
		Basically the album is best enjoyed while viewing the works of the artist El Greco.
		However it's a great album to listen if you enjoy that correlation between the visual arts and music.

		Elongation of the subjects and the darkened background suggest El Greco, but the compositional quirk of depicting the knees to the exclusion of the top of the head is a tell-tale sign that the artist was my mother.
