	Elafonissos
		Elafonissos (Greek: Ελαφόνησος) or Elafonisos is a small Greek island between the Peloponnese and Kythira.
		The current name the Elafonissos (Island of the Deers), according to research of Stamoulis Iakovos and Kroypis Ilias, is due to the rich hunting that existed in the region from the antiquity as it is reported by the Pausanias there was a statuary of Artemis (Goddess of hunting) in the region.
		The residents of Elafonissos posses allocating one of the bigger fishing fleets in Greece with boats suitable for coastal mainly fishing.

		Anchage takes place in the the ports of the Elafonissos village, which are well protected from all winds.
		You may also leave the boat off-shore in the bay but you have to be carefull not to be on the route of the ferry boat which during the summer months may sail as many as 30 times per day.

		Elafonissos (or Elafonissi) is one of the most beautiful beaches you could visit in Crete and it is located at the most South and West part of the island at a distance of about 70 Km from Chania.
		To reach Elafonissos you must take the road to Vathy, continue South to reach the coast at the Crysoskalitissa Convent and then West for 5 km and you will find the islet of Elafonisi.
		The small island is connected to the body of Crete by a shallow reef some 800 metres long, which is easy to cross when the weather is calm.

		Instead I've been to Elafonissos, all in the Southouest of Crete.
		You reach Elafonissos over a good road that leaves the northcoast a few after Drapanioas or as an alternative road along the west coast.
		Of course that would be easier when you travel in May or at the beginning of June, but even in July or August you can try it out.
