In the fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000, the Eldar are a race of elf-like humanoids.
In Warhammer 40,000 the Eldar are divided into three distinct armies: the Craftworld Eldar, who are similar to the High Elves, the Dark Eldar, who are similar to the Dark Elves and the Harlequins who do not have a Warhammer Fantasy counterpart.
Harlequins are warrior troubadours whose carefully constructed masques and impressive displays of mime and acrobatics tell the many strange stories of Eldar mythology.

(the eldar in codex eldar are craftworld eldar they are just vanilla craftworld same as the stock space marines) Codex Craftworld eldar lists several specific craftworlds which have special rules much like codex blood angels, space wolves, dark angels etc...
So when they say craftworld eldar they mean the specific craftworld eldar craftworlds listed in the craftworld eldar codex, because all normal eldar are craftworld eldar..
harlequins are in the right place at the right time the rest of the eldar are only there to prolong the end if the harlequins didn't show the path it would end.

 WARHAMMER 40,000 ONLINE
Due in a few short years - 2004 at the earliest - Warhammer 40,000 4th edition is just going to be an update to the 3rd edition rules.
The Dark Eldar codex will likely become 64 pages and include more background material, and may include the planned Kabal variant lists (these might be placed in WD instead, depending on whether or not they're done at the time of production).
Warhammer 40,000 4th Edition is currently being worked on by Games Workshop.
