  ElectrEm
ElectrEm is an emulator of the Acorn Electron, an 8bit microcomputer first launched in 1983 that was once the fourth best selling in the UK market.
On the whole it is enough to point the emulator towards a tape or disc image and it will automatically configure the emulated hardware into a compatible form and then launch the program contained in the image.
That codebase is now known as "ElectrEm Classic" and was ported to Windows, DOS and Linux supporting a wide array of graphics output libraries including Allegro, SVGALib, GGI, SDL and DirectX.

ElectrEm [1] is an emulator of the Acorn Electron coded in platform neutral C++ using the Simple DirectMedia Layer library.
ElectrEm Future has not been developed at anything like the same rate as ElectrEm Classic and lacks many of the nicer features of the older emulator - notably including a useful GUI - but features cycle perfect emulation for any software it is capable of running.
ElectrEm emulates a 6502 hybrid that never existed: its virtual 6502 has a built in memory mapper and a dumb data collector.

 php-deluxe.net - description ElectrEm
ElectrEm [http://electrem.emuunlim.com] is an emulator of the Acorn Electron coded in platform neutral C plus plus using the Simple DirectMedia Layer library.
A very common way to implement an emulator, which was also employed in ElectrEm Classic, is to run the Central Processing Unit for the minimum number of operations that exceeds n cycles, then give a call out to all non-CPU devices to run for n cycles.
Bit multiplexing is both the most impressive feature of ElectrEm and the most underused at the same time.

This is the "Future" branch of ElectrEm, begun in 2003 as a full scale replacement for the ElectrEm code up until then.
ElectrEm Future retains the bit multiplexing features of the classic code, but they are virtually untested and poorly maintained.
ElectrEm Future goes a lot further than the old code in making it easy to insert the extra data into otherwise completely accurate game/media images without damaging their integrity.

 EUG #65 Emulation: ElectrEm
Currently we stand at ELECTREM 'Beta' release 9, which is more of a show of modesty by its creator Thomas Harte than recognition of the quality standard the emulator is of.
ELECTREM is a nice emulator in that it is one which 'fills the screen' of your PC, i.e.
The beauty of ELECTREM is that all the operational requirements of the emulator itself are behind this 'curtain'; they are 'switched in and out' from the main Electron code itself by hitting F11.

BBC Micro and Electron Games - The Stairway To Hell - What's Old
Intriguingly, the ElectrEm documentation states that a possible future application of the multiplexing process could be the insertion of digital sound effects into games........
In order to properly launch the new 'bit multiplexing' features of ElectrEm I was hoping to get at least one game done relatively quickly, and I've chosen 'Dare Devil Denis' for various dull reasons (mostly because it works without me having to come up with a clever EOR scheme, and isn't a Acornsoft/Superior title).
As for the other coming features of ElectrEm - ADFS disc writes work already (although there is going to be a write protect option in the GUI), and I hopefully just have to make a few more ULA guesses before I have a working scheme for tape writing.

 Subject: Re: Rotoview
On the off chance the software is Electron compatible and you have access to a DOS/Win95/98/ME machine with two floppy drives, then you can use Disk2FDI (http://www.oldskool.org/disk2fdi/) to create an image of your floppy which will work with the WIP release of my Electron emulator, ElectrEm (http://electrem.emuunlim.com/).
The WIP version has slogger Master RAM Board and Mode 7 emulation, so it should be possible to make it act reasonably like a (64kb) BBC provided your software isn't doing any straight to hardware access and, as you imply, the application isn't so concerned with multi-channel sound.
ElectrEm is available for DOS, Windows and UNIX and includes a built in 'save image' function that produces a PCX, or (in the WIP) will run in a Window so that Windows can capture the display for you with print screen without the usual DirectX/palette issues.
