Electric Cafe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Electric Cafe is a music album by the group Kraftwerk.
The album's title track gained some notoriety in the U.S. when it was used (slightly remixed and sped up) as the theme song for "Sprockets," the German television spoof by Mike Myers on Saturday Night Live.
A lot of studio rework was undertaken, and the final mix down of the album was completely redone from scratch at least once, Hütter eventually travelling to New York with the master tapes to work on them with producer François Kevorkian.

When the retitled and retooled ELECTRIC CAFE finally arrived in 1986, it was hardly recognisable, and certainly not as high-value as Kraftwerk's previous three releases.
At once sterile and immensely alive, Electric Cafe reaches the logical conclusion of the group's quest for synth riffs oozing with dark industrial animae.
The tracks Boing Boom Tschak and Electric Cafe in particular trick living texture from the drone of a consummately machine-driven world, while Musique Non Stop finds in the precise monotony of its programming a catatonic vortex from which there is no escape.

'Electric Cafe' is much more old-fashioned, sounding like one of the lesser tracks on one of their earlier albums, but without the positive attribute of having period charm.
Worst of all, the thwippy drums and sampled vocals were further polished in 1991's 'The Mix', which is also dated but much more entertaining, and has an unarguably and objectively superior version of 'Musique Non Stop'.
Sure they had way better moments such as Computer World and The Man-Machine but Electric Cafe doesn't have too many disappointments.
