New Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock DI-DZ
Electric Rendezvous and Kiss My Axe are incredible albums from one of the best fusion guitarists alive.
Land of the Midnight Sun (76), Elegant Gypsy (77), Casino (78), Splendido Hotel (80), Electric Rendezvous (82), Tour De Force - Live (82), Scenario (83), Cielo E Terra (85), Soaring Through a Dream (85), Tirami Su (87), Kiss My Axe (91)
The record alternates spacey, acoustic-based tunes with heavier high-energy, highly electric fusion tunes which remind me of Brand X. This may be a hard one to find (unless you live in South Florida, where Dobson was based), but is definitely worth seeking out if you enjoy challenging, exciting jazz-rock.

 PEPL Electric Propulsion Thrusters
The NSTAR engine is the primary propulsion for the Deep Space 1 (DS-1) probe currently in route for comet and asteroid rendezvous.
The NASA Solar Electric Propulsion Technology Application Readiness (NSTAR) program developed the 2.3 kW ion engine for use as a primary propulsion engine for orbit transfer and intra-solar system trajectories.
The ion beam is "neutralized" by electrons emitted from a second hollow cathode external to the discharge assembly.

After an evaluation of these two advanced propulsion concepts NASA selected the solar electric system in September 1977, upon its merits of being a less, but still considerable risk for a comet Halley rendezvous.
Electricity can be generated for free and in abundance with solar cells in the vicinity of our sun.
Another concept for lever-usage to steer the solar sail are the steering vanes on the square solar sail shown at island.org.

 [10.03] Electric Propulsion
The Dawn Discovery mission makes use of electric propulsion for sequential rendezvous with two large asteroids (Vesta then Ceres), something not possible using chemical propulsion.
Benefits of electric propulsion systems over state-of-the-art chemical systems include increased launch windows, which reduce mission risk; increased deliverable payload mass for more science; and a reduction in launch vehicle size-- all of which increase the opportunities for New Frontiers and Discovery class missions.
Next Generation Electric Propulsion (NGEP) technology development tasks are working towards advancing solar-powered electric propulsion systems and components to levels ready for transition to flight systems.

Mission feasibility is assured by the use of efficient low-thrust solar electric propulsion in order to achieve the demanding rendezvous mission objectives with a low propellant mass consumption.
The spacecraft will be handed over to a larger deep space ground station to facilitate the required TT&C communications links with the spacecraft during the Interplanetary transfer, Rendezvous and Measurement phases of the missions.
The spacecraft has been designed to survive a high radiation exposure (dose damage and solar array degradation), the launch vibration environment and the extremes of the thermal environment expected during all 5 rendezvous missions over a maximum mission lifetime of 5 years.

His achievement here is making the case for his electric axe as a viable instrument both for buoyant lite funk ("Sharkskin Suit") and cool, laid-back ballads like "Promises" and "Rendezvous"; he wrote another of these, "The Least You Can Do," with Collins.
If this longtime Genesis/Phil Collins guitarist's brand of edgy electric pop instrumental fare ever catches on in the smooth jazz format, it will bring a much appreciated crackle to the genre.
Though his focus is on being plugged in, Stuermer is also adept at the lighter-tinged acoustic approach, although he limits himself here to only one demonstration -- the gently percussive, soundscape-enhanced "Zanzibar," which textures the lead and rhythm guitar tracks beautifully.

 Testimony of John Mankins
Many ambitious potential space science mission goals — such as landing on Jupiter’s moon, Europa, a rendezvous with Saturn’s rings, and others — depend upon high-performance propulsion such as could be achieved with solar-electric power and propulsion systems in the 50-kilowatts-and-higher power class.
Substantial demonstrations of power beaming from ground-to-space might also be achievable during the next decade (for example, to transmit power to an electric orbital transfer vehicle operating in Earth orbit).
The interface of a beamed power receiver into a local power grid is an important overall aspect of an operational SPS system in the far term.

The Champollion payload includes a narrow angle, high resolution camera for orbital mapping, panoramic and near-field cameras, a combined infrared spectrometer/microscope, a gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer, a physical properties experiment, and a one-meter drill for obtaining samples at depth (opportunities for additional scientific instruments may be available).

One of FULTON's most notable wartime achievements was her rendezvous with the cruiser PORTLAND and the destroyer RUSSELL to receive 101 officers and 1,790 enlisted men who had survived the sinking of the aircraft carrier USS YORKTOWN (CV-5) which was lost in the historical battle of Midway.
FULTON was modernized in 1983-84 during an extensive overhaul conducted at Electric Boat, Groton, Connecticut and General Dynamics, Quincy, Massachusetts.
In April 1951, FULTON was recommissioned and assigned to the newly reactivated Submarine Squadron TEN at New London, Connecticut, where she resumed her role in support of the submarine fleet.

 Computing low-thrust spacecraft mission
While not practical for manned missions, where time of flight must be minimized, low-thrust systems could be used for supply missions, sample-return missions and rendezvous with distant planets.
Low-thrust systems, such as solar-electric propulsion -- which uses huge solar arrays to collect photons and convert them into electricity to drive an ion engine -- possess little impulse power but may be operated continuously.
With the U. of I. algorithm, the automated search procedure provides a mission planner with an array of compromise solutions trading off such system performance characteristics as time of flight and amount of propellant consumed.
