		Electro, short for electro funk (also known as robot hip hop) is an electronic style of hip hop directly influenced by Kraftwerk and funk records (unlike earlier rap records which were closer to disco).
		Not all electro features rapping; vocals processed through a vocoder is a common element and instrumental tracks are more prominent than in related genres of electronic and hip hop music.
		Although the early 1980s were electro's heyday in the mainstream it enjoyed a popularity increase in the late 1990s with artists such as DMX Krew, Mr Velcro Fastener and Japanese Telecom.

		Electro is Pretty Tony, Trinere, Maggotron, Anthony Rother, B Boys, I-F, Dynamix II, Mantronix, the West Street Mob, Bass Junkie, Cybotron, the Egyptian Lover, Drexciya, etc. Look up "Peaches" or any of the "Electroclash" artists on the biggest Electro website, ElectroEmpire, and you'll find they aren't even listed.

		Electro, nu-electro, trance, house, techno, pop, freestyle and electroclash; they are all facets of the same diamond in my mind.

		The Hacienda, Manchester's own (in)famous club and first house of house music in the UK - we're talking 1986 here -, used to have a night called Nude on Fridays, and Mike Pickering and Graeme Park were residents there.
		This is where piano house sits comfortably next to hip house, where Chicago male vocalists are shining next to Ce Ce Peniston-worthy divas, where Dionne's "Come Get My Lovin" rubs pelvis with Altern 8's "Infiltrate 202", and where acid is dripping from the walls.
		They were calling it "stadium house", and indeed, it sounded huge and nothing like the Eurocheese hits that got played in my hometown's discothèques.
