  Electronic
By the time their debut album "Electronic" was released in the late summer of 1990, leading UK journalists hailed it "the unreachable pop triumph of the age" and "a finely judged blend of winsome pop and vigorous dance beats."
The bulk of the album was recorded throughout 1995 in a variety of British studios.
Where previously Electronic's working method was "to chip away together diligently for about eight years", this time they'd get together only when they had a song more or less ready.

MP3.com - the source for digital music!
A suitably vague term used to describe the emergence of electronic dance music increasingly geared to listening instead of strictly dancing, Electronica was first used in the title of a series of compilations (actually called New Electronica) spotlighting original sources of Detroit techno such as Juan Atkins and Underground Resistance alongside...
As with the earlier singles, the group's sound is a brazen, dancefloor-oriented blend of progressive house, funk, electro, and techno, with sprinklings of hip-hop-styled breakbeats and excessive, crowd-firing samples, similar to other anthemic dance-fusion acts such as the Chemical Brothers and Monkey Mafia.
The second album from Justin Robertson's crew of British DJ renegades (this time with some live guitars and an MC tossed into the frantic mix) covers a lot of electronica ground on its 14 songs, sticking pretty close to classic surging house through the stretch.

 Electronic-Dance Downloads - Download Electronic-Dance Music - Download Electronic-Dance MP3s
Few albums were as eagerly anticipated as The Fat of the Land, the Prodigy's long-awaited follow-up to Music for the Jilted Generation.
Compared to their previous work, the sound is grubbier and less reliant on samples; the effect moved the Prodigy away from the American-influenced rave and acid house of the past and toward a uniquely British vision of breakbeat techno that was increasingly allied to the limey invention of drum'n'bass.
Shadow created the entire album from samples, almost all pulled from obscure, forgotten vinyl, and the effect is that of a hazy, half-familiar dream -- parts of the record sound familiar, yet it's clear that it only suggests music you've heard before, and that the multi-layered samples and genres create something new.

 EDr :: ELECTRONIC DESERT recordings
Electronic Desert Recordings is a small independent record label founded in 2002 and focused on releasing the very best in contemporary electronic music.
It is the mutual interest in contemporary electronic music that is the main driving force for the founders of Electronic Desert (ED) Jan Andersson and Jonas Sissokho.
The musical vision is quite sinister, complex and very  electronic, may be not as harsh as his earlier techno output and it is true that the  dance floor focus has been slightly toned down, but rest assured that the  key elements of production have been kept intact: electronics that move.

 Electronic: Twisted Tenderness (2000): Reviews
The album is haunted by echoes from both Marr and Sumner's past lives, which dates it a bit.
All of Electronic's album work is essential, but this is their best work.
Moves on from the highly synthetic (but nevertheless pleasant sounding) debut album ‘Electronic’ and the subsequent Raise The Pressure to a much harder, rockier sound without loosing the sense of rhythm which appeals to me so much.

 Pioneers
Most electronic bands were influenced by The Human League in some fashion, and this album is one of the prime reasons why electronic pop flourished so strongly in the 80's.
This is one of Ultravox's most electronic albums, but their uncanny knack of mixing electric guitars with synths makes this a must-have for your collection.
Frankly, all their albums contain amazing synthpop gems, but always seem to be interspersed with extremely experimental stuff as well, which kind-of shifts the focus away from the best parts of the album.

 Lula Dawson Bliley's Photo Album-Home
At the time of the creation of this electronic album, the album covers were in poor condition and the binding was barely holding things together.

 Daniel Marsh
The album was a mix of piano ambient and the unsettling and chaotic experimentalism of R.A.M. or The New Sound.
After that album he took young musicians Rick Farram and Jay Kidd under his wings and started to produce their project The Methods of Melody in the mid-80's and didn't release solo albums in another five years although he produced some other artists also.
Feedback on the album has been very varied with many claiming in to be his worst by any measurement and others even claiming it be Marsh's best.

 EvilSponge: Album: Disparation by Biowire
A strange name, to be sure, but that begs the question of why this disc is released on Athens, GA based Kindercore records.
I think the reason for this is that My Knee uses one of the few vocal samples on the album, and it is distorted and buried under the keys.
The album wraps up with There Once Was a Boy, a happy energetic track that features 80's style thumping drum beats, serious synths, and echoed voice.

This is a collection of compositions from electronic music pioneer and 20th century legend Iannis Xenakis, deceased in the early half of 2001 after a lifetime creating one of the most significant bodies of European art.
In electronic music he is known not as the inventor but as the composer who shaped the medium into one of the most progressive and complex mediums of the late 20th century.
Hence, New York's Electronic Music Foundation released this compilation of his works dating from the late '50s, when at a Paris studio he produced these artifacts that take the primitive electronics of the time into stunningly sophisticated realms.

The first and third tracks are useless if you've bought the album, on which they appear exactly as here ("Vivid") or in a far better version ("Prodigal Son").
And when it comes to that unmatched Electronic sound, nothing beats "Dark Angel," "If You've Got Love," "Second Nature," and "Freefall." Marr has such a knack for balance and melody, everything he lays down is a hook, and Sumner's formidable lyrical skills have never been on better display.
The group's debut was a runaway success in England upon its release in 1992 (a U.K. critics association voted it one of the Top 20 albums of the year), and it still impresses today.

Welcome to Mindawn - Erik Norlander - Seas of Orion
Seas of Orion is Norlander's 5th solo album following closely on the heels of his new live CD, Stars Rain Down, recorded in Europe in 2001 and 2003 and already garnering extensive critical praise from the press and fans alike.
Norlander is known for his ability to traverse musical styles with the ease of an accomplished alpine skiier, and this year's releases are perhaps the strongest case for that yet.
While it remains a keyboard-oriented album, Stars Rain Down has a decidedly hard rock and almost heavy metal feel to it courtesy of Norlander's magnificent European touring band consisting of traditional rock guitar, bass, drums and aggressive vocals.

Electronic Best of: Get the Message - review of Electronic's new album featuring Getting Away With It
Beside a few exceptions — Velvet Revolver comes to mind — the new entity usually turns into an underachievement, which can't be better embodied by Electronic, which was born from the association of Bernard Sumner (New Order, Joy Division), Johnny Marr (The Smiths) and the occasional vocals from the Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant.
Lacking melodies and emotion, Electronic's songs are overproduced and forgettable, which can not only be seen in this lengthy compilation but also in their discography, as there are only a couple of songs to salvage from each of their albums.
Still, if you're a New Order fan or like old school synth-pop — Electronic sounding nothing like the Smiths as the guitars are subdued — Get the Message is the best way to collect their few good singles, which could have been summed on a EP rather than on 15-track CD stuffed with fillers.

Harmony Central®: Album Review: Electronic - Twisted Tenderness
You may think that singer from dance pop band (New Order alum Bernard Sumner) plus guitarist from pop rock bands (Johnny Marr, from the Smiths and The The) equals a nice little formulaic dance rock hybrid, but that's not exactly true on Twisted Tenderness, their first release since Raise the Pressure four years ago.
The album does combine dance music and rock, though so remarkably well and with so little contrivance that you don't even realize it's happening.
Electronic own the maturity and integrity of a veteran band but with a freshness of spirit rarely displayed by artists 20 years into their careers.

More New Order than Smiths, the album was a blend of plangent fretwork and frenetic sequencing, with bleak lyrics intoned in Sumner's clean, boyish tenor.
Electronic's debut was a near perfect record, and it unleashed two fabulous singles in "Getting Away With It" and "Get The Message." It remains the best of the many New Order side projects.
